Conquering Debts Once and For All...

  • I posted this post on Pinot's thread in error yesterday so have copied it to mine just for continuity's sake. My head really wasn't in a good space yesterday.

Mr F and I got up at ridiculous o'clock this morning to take DS1 to his football game and arrived to find only 4 other players had bothered to turn up  so they had to forfeit the game!:mad: It's so hard on those that do turn up. Fortunately the other team were good sports and loaned us some players so at least they still got a game, even though it didn't count. We even managed to rope DS1's friend into playing (he's on a sleepover with us this weekend) and he'd never played before! Then home via the bakery as it was 11.00 a.m. and we were all starving. Not even a coffee before we left the house this morning as we ran out of milk and I can't drink black coffee.

The oven we bought is slightly smaller than our old one so Mr F is now trying to pack out the slot it sits in. Not sure what what it'll look like when it's finished but so long as I have a working oven I don't care (at this point). Still got to find an electrician to come and wire up which is proving more difficult. :(

More money has been spent as the pump for the fish tank stopped working a few weeks ago and even though we've been very good at cleaning it out, it's still looking very dirty and so new pump it is! Another $50 spent and it's only 1:15!!

I also have a stinking headache that doesn't seem to be lifting despite taking paracetamol.

I feel like this is a bit of a whiny post and I need to give myself a good kick up the a**e and get on with it.

Hope you're all having a good day.

  • We finally have our 'new' oven installed thanks to a recommendation from a friend we managed to find an electrician to wire it up for us. :) Will have to try it out today.

I decided to take myself off to bed early last night as my head was still giving me grief and I was really out of sorts. I'm pleased to say I feel much better this morning and better able to face the world!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

  • Finally, a NSD!! :D It feels like it's been ages since I had one of these. A few more wouldn't go amiss. :p

I have a full on week and am so looking forward to the three day weekend! Mr F and I have a birthday party _party_ and renewal of vows to attend, so it's going to a busy one. :D

Dinner tonight was individual cottages pie with sprouts and swede followed by home made chocolate cake. I even managed to put one in the freezer for another day; haven't managed to do that in a while. We also have bread which has just finished baking in the bread maker and smells yummy. It's making me feel sooo hungry.

  • Another NSD. Woohoo. :j

A lovely sunny but nippy day here today. We were cleaning a gorgeous house, back tomorrow to finish but it's really sad; the owner of the house died on Sunday from cancer, without getting to see the house that has been build for his family. Life can be so cruel.

Mr F made dinner tonight, teriyaki chicken with broccoli, carrots and couscous. I enjoyed it but the boys weren't so sure about it. I don't think we'll be having it again in a hurry :p but don't tell Mr F. :rotfl:

  • So, today was a mixed bag. It was a good day work wise. The sun was shining and I was in a good mood. My worker found a new radio station that plays 'the sounds tracks to your life' playing a selection of music old and new and everything in between. I kept thinking he was calling me but he was just singing along to the songs... :rotfl: he wasn't particularly in tune. :p Funny. We were cleaning a small(ish) house today so I was back home by 3:15, giving me enough time to get my business accounts up to date. :)

Our boarder came for a chat tonight to tell us she is moving out. It's such a shame because she has fit in so well and is only with us Mon-Fri so we still get the weekends to ourselves. She will be missed; not only for her rent but because she is such a lovely person and has been a pleasure to have around. Next thing is for us to decide whether we want to get another boarder.

  • Just a quick post tonight, as a busy day tomorrow.

Spent a wonderful afternoon with friends yesterday. We held a surprise birthday party for my helper's wife who is a very good friend of mine. She was completely unaware of anything going on. I baked one of my chocolate and banana cakes but this time made chocolate ganache icing to go on top. It was absolutely delicious.

We had a bit of a laugh when my friend's husband lit the candles on the cake and said "one of them doesn't seem to be working". He had the candle on upside down and had tried to light the plastic bit on the end. :rotfl::rotfl:

Today has been a whirl of catching up on housework, baking another cake as I had some chocolate ganache left and the boys wanted another cake (they weren't at the party yesterday); who am I to say no? ;):p

I then spent a very pleasant afternoon clearing out my wardrobe and to my delight quite a few clothes were too big. I then asked Mr F to drag a suitcase full of clothes out of the attic and went through that and now have some 'new' additions to my wardrobe, with clothes that were previously too small. So win, win all round and very MSE of me. :D

I won't be posting tomorrow as we're off to my friends' renewal of wedding vows. We haven't seen them in over two years so will be good to see them.

Hum, so much for the short post.

I hope you're all enjoying the extra long weekend.

  • What a fantastic day we had yesterday. Our friends renewed their wedding vows in a small chapel which was set in beautiful grounds that I think used to be an old Maori Pa (fortress). It has several buildings including a tower. The sun was shining for the gorgeous couple. The bride was radiant and her groom was a sight to behold in his kilt.

They were welcomed on to the grounds with a traditional Maori welcome followed by a haka. They had written their own vows which were read out by the celebrant, a friend of the family, as due to her illness the bride can only whisper. It was such a poignant and emotional ceremony.

The rest of the day went by very quickly, too quickly but we had a good time. It was made extra special by the announcement that they have decided to stay in NZ. They have been wanting to move here (the bride's home country) for the past few years but due to her illness and subsequent treatment they had to stay in the UK but now that there is nothing more they can do for her, she wants to be here in NZ with her family. She is one very special lady.

  • Two NSD's in a row. :j Won't be one tomorrow though, gc shopping to do.

We had a yummy dinner tonight of mince chow mein with home grown pak choy. Absolutely delicious. All the better because Mr F made it. :D

The last couple of days have been filled with financial happenings. I'm in the process of trying to restructure one of my business loans as it's a high APR. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to but at least I'm trying.

I had a bit of a drive to my job today but it was in a lovely spot. Whilst sitting down for a cuppa we discovered a waterfall in the hills in the distance. On closer inspection we found another bigger and better waterfall a few hundred metres to the left of the first one. Beautiful. It's on the nicest parts of my job... we get to see some stunning locations.

Off to go talk to dad on Skype now. Hope you all have a good day. x
