Oops, it's been a couple of days since my last post.
Today has pretty much been a wasted day. Arrived at the job I was booked for to find it wasn't quite ready for cleaning. I organized to go back tomorrow but then was asked if I could go back this afternoon to begin and finish off tomorrow. So, off I trotted... well drove... only to find even more workmen in the house and the carpet fitter (who had caused the hold up) was missing in action! So, my second wasted journey of the day, wasting my time, my petrol and the hour's pay I'll have to pay my staff member. Grrr.
Not only that but we have major roadworks near us that means there is a diversion. Only supposed to last 2 days (the diversion not the roadworks) but it was still in place tonight.
Sorry, rant over.
Worm farm arrived today so now set up in back garden. First scraps were put in following tonight's dinner. So the worms have some lovely cauliflower leaves to munch on.
A LSD today as we needed some milk but was a NSD yesterday and should be again tomorrow.
That's me for now, expecting my weekly skype call from dad.Hopefully catch up with a few more diaries later.

I've been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster the last couple of days. I had my weekly Skype chat with dad on Wednesday night and he wasn't his usual cheery self. In fact he was very down (most unlike him). He has decided that he's not going to be able to visit us in NZ again as he can't cope with the flight. Well, it's not the flight per se, more his inability to use the toilet on the plane, due to his artificial leg. The last time he visited he went almost 24 hours without being able to use the toilet, which also meant he didn't eat or drink very much and was very tired when he arrived. When he went back to the UK he returned home to find a pipe had been leaking in his roof and one of the bedrooms was completely unusable for 3 months and the insurance company were very difficult. So he now feels he hasn't got anything to look forward to anymore.
I've been sending his silly emails for the last few days trying to cheer him up.
Then I got some good news, a very good friend of mine from the UK is visiting NZ in May and is renewing her wedding vows (she's originally from NZ). So as you can imagine I was quite giddy with excitement, even managing to find myself an outfit (quite by accident) in the sales for the bargain price of $30 (15 pounds). I had a really nice day with Mr F and DS2 at the shopping mall (DS2 spending some hard earned cash on Mr F's birthday present and himself), and we had lunch in a cafe. So a good day.
When we got home there was an email from my friend explaining that renewing her vows was on her bucket list. You see she fought cancer 4 years ago and was in remission, but it's returned and now they can't cure it and it's terminal. To be honest I'm still in shock. She's only in her early thirties. She hasn't told her children yet.
Sorry for the long post but I do feel slightly better for writing it down.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Hi Box of Fluffies
I woke up this morning thinking I wonder how you are, had not seen any posts recently..and then I see this! I am SO SO sorry. That is one hell of a shock, especially on the back of the general worry about your dad and how he's coping too.
So a very mixed few days. Take it easy on yourself and enjoy the small things. Be thankful for everything that's positive for you and your immediate family, we never know when carp is around the corner.
Keep on posting when you can babes..

PS could your dad get someone to help him/ accompany him over? Perhaps who is going anyway and could help out? Also the airline crew should be able to help?
It was a real long haul but when DDs were small we went over to NZ via Emirates so Dubai and Melbourne stops. Yes it takes longer but at least you can go to the toilet! Maybe one to think about..MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Oh no Fluffy, that's an awful couple of things.
Your poor dad. Like Brizzle says, I'm sure the airlines could help out. They must have come across this lots of times before. And if he did make it, maybe a neighbour would check on his house while he's away just to give him peace of mind. It's awful if he feels he has nothing to look forward to. Thank goodness for Skype and email.
So sad for your friend. It puts things into perspective doesn't it...... xxLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Thanks for the kind words Brizzle. I'm still trying to process everything but I'm thankful that she is able to come for a visit and I'll get to see her.
The situation with my dad is not an easy one to solve. He's a stubborn old coot who doesn't accept help, from anyone. He's hates relying on anyone and although he can get help getting on/off the plane when he's in the airport he is basically 'dumped' in a lounge in his wheelchair and he won't ask for help.
We've asked him to come and live with us but he refuses, saying he doesn't want to be a burden. He wouldn't even have to do the whole immigration thing as he was in the Australian army for 25 years and would have automatic entry to NZ.
I shall have to ponder some more.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Our posts seem to have crossed Happy. Unfortunately his neighbour was supposed to have checked his house the last time but we don't think she did, there was so much mail on the mat plus the horrendous stench that hit him when he walked in the door.
As I said above, I shall have to ponder this one some more.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All
