Uh, not so sure about this one. I've put self raising flour in instead of plain. I always have them in the same place in the cupboard, plain on the right, sr on the left but someone (I suspect Mr F) put them in the other way around. It's in the microwave as we speak so we shall see. I might have to make another one! Watch this space....

:rotfl:Really shouldnt laugh , I'm sorry !! I hope for your sake it doesnt look like a brown wobbly jelly, or something else unmentionable like mine did !! Mine was made in a loaf tin , so was very unappealing !!

I've survived the houseful of teenage boys and being evicted from my lounge so they could play on the Wii and watch DVD's. :rotfl::rotfl: Am just heading to bed now, it's been a busy couple of days, but will be back tomorrow with an update.

Oh and I haven't forgotten about that lemon drizzle cake recipe for Mrs Pinot or the photo of the birthday cake.

  • It's lovely having the house back to normal. I feel like I can be 'me' again. It's another beautifully sunny clear blue skies type of day, with just a hint of a breeze. My favourite kind of day. :D

Mr F just made bacon, sausage, eggs and mushrooms on the barbie and we washed it down with a nice cup of tea. Really enjoyed it, as we don't often have a 'fry up' these days.

The boys really enjoyed their easter egg hunt this morning. I pondered whether or not to do one this year as they're probably a little bit too old but as you can see, I decided to go ahead with it. They seemed to enjoy it and it kept them amused for 30 minutes. :D

I managed to sell another item on trademe last night, $60 for the pot! :j

Mr F and I were deciding whether or not to go away for a couple of nights at the end of the month for his birthday, but after looking into the cost of paying for somewhere to stay and a meal or two out, it would probably cost us close to $400. I told Mr F that I would rather pay this off our cc as the sooner we pay off our debt, the sooner we can have weekends away without feeling guilty. What's more, he agreed. :D So I'm now looking at buying him a new watch for about $100, which means we should be able to pay off cc1!! :D:D

Now I think it's time to sit in the sun (well shade) and do some crocheting. Enjoy your day everyone.

  • Pinot just for you a picture of the microwaved chocolate cake for DS2. The bottom half is the one made with sr flour (ie the wrong flour) and it was really crumbly and was breaking up, so to disguise it I made another one and stuck it on top (filling it with jam and cream).

We then covered the whole cake in marshmallows. The boys absolutely loved it. :j:j

  • I was asked for a lemon drizzle cake recipe so thought I would post it here and then on Pinot's diary as she requested it. :)

    Ingredients:
    175g butter
    175g caster sugar
    2 eggs
    175g self-raising flour
    Grated rind of 1 lemon
    4 tablespoons milk
    1 tablespoon lemon juice

    GLAZE
    Juice of 1 lemon
    2-3 tablespoons icing sugar, sifted
    1. Preheave oven to 160 degrees / gas 3. Great a 1 kg/2 lb loaf tin with butter and line base with greaseproof paper.
    2. Cream !!!!!! and sugar.
    3. Beat egss lightly. Dribble into mix and keep beating.
    4. Sift flour into mix and add lemon rind. Fold into mix with metal spoon. Gently mix in the milk and lemon juice.
    5. Spoon mix into tin and bake for 55-60 mins.
    6. Once cooked, !!!!! cake all over.

Oh that cake :):):). I have never in my life made one of the kids' birthday cakes. I've always bought them from M & S or Tesco and they've cost a fortune. I suppose now I've realised I'm poor I will have to start baking them, but I bet they look nothing like yours :)

Ok, how jealous am I. Why on earth didnt my Choccy cake look as scrummy as yours ?!! Could it have been the loaf tin I wonder ?!! Your boys have one very clever mummy ! I am glad to hear the party went well and you survived to tell the tale !!

But....although reported on my diary....the lemon drizzle cake was a huge success ( with an extra lemon in our case !) I had no idea what I was doing to be honest, as although I had a loaf tin I dont know how big it is, so it was a big of guess work, but its lovely, and I used my lovely new juicer that I recieved as an early birthday pressie to squeeze the lemons ! Acutally DD2 and I fought over it, so we squeezed one lemon each ! :p

Mrs B, I havent made it over to your diary yet :o, so I am hijacking here, but if you read this, I hope you have had a lovely day with OH and the Girls back home !!!

The chocolate cake is so easy to make, well I think so but Pinot tried it and it didn't work out so well. :o I make mine in a round silicone baking tin.
