There you are! Thought you'd wandered off and forgotten us. You've had a hectic few days by the sound of it, hope you get chance to relax soon x

  • I'm loving this lovely autumn weather we're having at the moment. Summer didn't really happen this year but autumn is definitely making up for it. :D Even though my day yesterday was very busy I managed to sit out in the sun with a cup of tea before heading off to DS2's parents evening.

He is doing very well. As predicted, all teachers reported what a lovely boy he is, very polite and quiet in class, the only problem he seems to be having is not having enough confidence to ask questions in class. We thought this would be the case but at least the teachers have recognized it and are starting to keep an eye on his work. He is top of his class in Graphics! :j:j So even though it wasn't planned, we ended up having a takeaway for dinner as a treat for him doing so well. So unfortunately not a NSD.

On the money front, Mr F had his first wage yesterday at the lower rate. He's losing approx $140 (£70) a fortnight. :( Hopefully this will only be for the next 3 pays as he will then be able to reduce his pension payments to cover the shortfall, not that I particularly want to reduce these but needs must. We can increase them again when funds allow.

    Plan for today:
    • Clean car inside and out (today's job has been moved to next week).
    • Sort finances for next fortnight
    • Hang washing out
    • Go for a walk by the river
    • Put some bread in breadmaker
    • Make dinner

  • Had a lovely relaxing day. Even managed a lie-in as Mr F made sure the boys were up and ready for school, so no need for me to check that they got off okay. Although have to confess I missed not seeing them off to school but enjoyed my mini lie-in. :D

I sold a couple of pictures that were collected at lunch time. $15 to go in my pot for emergencies. :j

Collected DS2 from school for another appointment this afternoon and picked up some spare parts for the business on the way. I had to drive passed anyway so no point in making two journeys.

MIL is still being pestered by Lowells, so tonight we've posted a letter off to them. Not sure it will help but at least we don't feel guilty that MIL is receiving letters and phone calls. We've already contested the debt about two years ago and thought they'd gone away but like a bad penny they turned up again. :(

Supermarket shopping done this evening, sm lovely and quiet. The pantry is looking pretty healthy at the moment.

Oh and just remembered some good news. I think I must have been having a blonde dyslexic moment, I read Mr F's salary incorrectly from the online banking and we're not losing $140 per fortnight but $90. :D:D

Unfortunately Mr F reminded me he needed a couple of jumpers for work so the $50 I reclaimed from my incorrect reading went on 2 new jumpers for Mr F. :(

    Hi Mrs Box of Fluffies

Lovely to catch up again. Here we all are, thousands of miles away literally the other side of the world and both places are basking in sunshine. Whoop! Whoop!

Sound like youre having a lovely few days and your clever hardworking sons! Well done them.

I must take up the crotchet - did buy the wool and a hook for £4 last week so no excuse now not to get onto YouTube and try..

I tell you when Piq, Mrs PG and I rent out that wine bar for a real life party we will have to find a way of smuggling you on a plane to come over! (well we can but dream about being able to afford to drink a wine bar dry..maybe thats the reward when we each reach our DFW goal!!)

I'm loving the sun we're having at the moment. In fact, I love autumn with those crisp mornings and cool evenings and red and gold leaves on the trees. Mind you, not so happy about clearing up all the leaves from the drain on the main road at the front of our property. As we're on a corner at the bottom of the hill, all the leaves collect outside our house and block the drain!

I wish I could recommend a you tube site for you to learn crochet but there are so many out there and I learnt from a neighbour of ours when I was about 10 years old! :rotfl::rotfl: Maybe you could check out the crochet thread (I'll post the link for you in the next thread) as I think a few people have listed a couple of you tube sites.

A secret rendezvous in a wine bar somewhere in the UK, sounds very Allo Allo'esq. Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once. :rotfl::rotfl:

  • It's 2.41 a.m. (well it's really 3.41am but the clocks went back tonight) and here I am, catching up on everyone's diaries as I can't get to sleep. Good job we have an extra hour and I can have a bit of a lie-in in the morning. :rotfl: I bet I'm still up before Mr F.

I'm looking forward to DS2 making pancakes in the morning. He learnt how to make them at school on Friday so is keen to show us and of course it would be rude to turn them down. :rotfl:
