son and condoms

Well I was told "don't have sex until you get married" and "keep your knickers on and your legs crossed and you'll be ok".
When they found out (through snooping private letters) that I'd had funtime with my boyf they shouted "don't you know about condoms?!?!?!" I was then able to scream, in true teenage temper, "yes, but no thanks to either of you!". So satisfying.
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Is it a man thing? Cos at 16 i quite happily went into the shop (home bargains does 12 mates condoms for about 1.99)
Then again i also went and got the implant as soon as i knew i'd be having sex... i remember my mum sitting me down for "the talk" and ended up teaching her a few things she didn't know
Don't be afraid to talk about it

DS1 has been getting his own from a youth clinic near his school, since he was 13, he's nearly 15 and still a virgin though has a serious gf. The clinic asked him if he was sexually active; he said no but used them for "posh w@nks" as it was less messy. After their chat she told him he was the most mature 13 yr old she'd ever met, he is. We've chatted about sex and he's happy to stick to foreplay!
DS2 on the other hand, blushes at the mere mention of anything sexual, aged 13; he just promised me he's not using his socks... well I didn't know what American Pie was like!

they were in the cupboard in the bathroom in our house as I and my brothers all hit our teenage years, they were there for anyone to take and they miraculously reappeared before the box ever got empty. The purchase of them was never discussed they were just there, though we all had to have the chat about being responsible,in my case "keepin me hand on me ha'penny" till we were sure we wanted to, lessons regarding use etc were and are still from what my 15 year old niece tells me given at school so it was just a case of supply.
Id buy some and next time you give him his washing to put away put them in the same laundry basket if he asks just say you might not need them now but you will at some point
That sounds like a sure fire way of getting arrested...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Now I take a somewhat different stance, it's quite obvious that some of us should count ourselves lucky as mothers if our sons are sensible enough to use the ones we buy for them... I think DS1 will, at least I hope he will but I'd rather not be a grandma yet thank you very much young fella me lad, let me twist your ear and walk you to the shop first... Actually I'm planning to casually pick some up and put them in the basket while we're shopping, then send him to pay :rotfl:
Now that's my style of parenting :TI'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
my son is 16 and has a girlfriend, I have spoken to him about safe sex but never actually bought him condoms
I would be happy to do so but think he would be horrified, he does get quite a bit of pocket money so the cost of buying them wouldnt be a problem
I think I will buy some and put them in his room0 -
Have any of the mums posting sat their sons down in front of the computer and forced them to look at all the gruesome pictures of what can happen to their bits if they don't use a condom? That alone should put the lads off sex until they're at least 30

The rotted brains and noseless faces are the best ones .................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
OP, as well as the condom talk, have you actually spoken to your son about the fact that he is 15 and underage? While I applaud your openess, I think there is still a place to gently point out that the law believes that he / his gf are not mature enough for the ramifications of the decision they are making.
I think parents have a hard balance trying to be encouraging so your children can come to you when there is a problem rather than hiding in shame or mortification, but you also do need to make sure he is aware that most 15 year olds don't have sex and that he can say he's not ready.
I volunteer supporting underage girls / couples after the baby's born and a lot of their friends and family relationships breakdown. A girl I supported last year had a heart breaking story- she said that she deliberately made sure her mum found out as she wanted her to play the heavy and give her an excuse she could use with her friends and bf. Instead her mum bought her condoms but didn't sit down and talk her through the decision or whether the boy was worth her time. She ended up pregnant and very resentful as she saw her mother as responsible for her getting pregnant at 15."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0
