  • my 16 yr old DS not only gets his own condoms (through a C card - a way to get free condoms through the doctor or local youth groups who are aurthorised to hand them out) but told me when he started sleeping with his girlfriend. We have always had an open conversation about sex and relationships in our house and both of our children know they can ask anything they like and get an honest answer...I would rather they ask us than friends at school and get the wrong info!
My son and his girlfriend regularly sleep at each others houses - both us and her parents are of the opinion that if they are going to sleep together at least they can do it safely in our houses! Several of my friends disapprove of this and say we only allow it because we are young parents, but ds girlfriends mum is the same age as MY mum so it can't be that can it?
Valuable life advice: never play chicken with a lion...the lion will ALWAYS win!
  • I would definitely sit down and have a chat with your son. My parents never discussed sex with me, even at 18 when i was in my first serious relationship. Fortunately for me I was savvy enough to go to the sexual health clinic and get my own condoms and have always been careful, having regular STI checks and the like.

I do think that the process of an STI check should be described to any teenager thinking about having sex. Then hopefully they should be scared into using them!! STI checks are unpleasant and it may make a teenager think twice - i know at 13 years old it would have made me think twice!!!

Well, my 15 YO DS happily goes into the GP surgery and asks for free ones  Which shocked me a bit as I didn't think he had the balls to do that. It's always the shy ones you have to watch eh? Anyhoo, I'm happy he's being responsible. Had a chat about her being underage etc, don't think it will make much difference tbh. Kids are gonna be kids n do it even more if you tell them no.

Caught him inflating one over his head and told him he was using it on the wrong head tho, hope he's got the hang of it now :(

I heard they have to put a stick through the penis and inflate it like an umbrella to do a scrape?

Have any of the mums posting sat their sons down in front of the computer and forced them to look at all the gruesome pictures of what can happen to their bits if they don't use a condom? That alone should put the lads off sex until they're at least 30 :D
The rotted brains and noseless faces are the best ones

I didn't need to, telling them their paternal grandfather has herpes was enough :D

Not on the NHS, although there are places you can pay for that sort of thing if you want it.

There's some useful stuff on https://www.channel4embarrassingillnesses.com/teenage-bodies/ - clearly explained and very sensible.
