Hi there I was wondering if someone could help.

I did the weightwatchers diet for a while last year and find it worked really well. I now want to go back on again and also get my husband to try it too. I have the books which tell you how many different points all the foods are but don't have the one which helps you to calculate how many points you can have each day based on sex, weight, how active you are etc.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can tell me how I can work this out for us both as I don't really want to have to buy the book.

    Thanks very much.
  • I have this somewhere - bear with me whilst I go look!!

Here we are - someone posted this on the WW forums some time ago. I'm not sure what the copyright issues are here - if this post is a problem, many apologies and please remove it. It didn't, to my knowledge, cause a problem on their own forum.

"If you do this quiz it tells you how many points you can have:

    Are you

    female - score 3
    male - score 9

    how old?
    16-20 - score 5
    21-35 score 4
    36-50 score 3
    51-65 score 2
    over 65 - score 1

add the number of stones you weigh (don't count pounds)

    How tall?
    under 5ft4 - score 1
    over - score 2

    Main occupation are you
sitting down most of the time - score 0
occasionally sitting, but mainly standing - score 2
walking most of the time - score 4
doing physically hard work most of the time - score 6

    Do you want to :
    lose weigh - score 0
maintain current weight - score 6

add all that up and you have your points total"

    Hi

I have done the weight watchers diet as well, i lost my points chart thing too, but i found out the formula:

You divide the number of calories by 70,
Divide the number of grams of saturated fat by 4,
then add the answers together to get the number of points.

E.g. 280 calories and 8g sat fat would be:
    (280/70)+(8/2) = 6 points.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much to all of you, that's exactly what I was looking for. The calucation about number of points in things is really helpful too.

Hope to get started on this again this week and get hubby on board too!!

    Thanks xx
  • Hi Holly

You should ask on the WW forums. Someone will be able to check for you either in their books or on their online subscription. I've found everyone to be very helpful for points values.
