jojilufc wrote:Was gonna do a lasagne tonight but not sure now . Does anyone know recipe for a low syn one?? It has to be "real meat" tho cos hubbie won't eat "that pretend cra..."
You could always make the lasagne with lean mince and make the sauce yourself using a tin of tomatoes or passata, some herbs, garlic etc. Layer the lasagne sheets and dont use a white sauce. Top with your Healthy extra portion of grated cheese. If you have this on a green day you will need to count the mince as your healthy extra B. There is a recipe somewhere that uses low fat formage frais (I think) as the creamy layer but I haven't tried it.
Today I bought crackerbread - comes in large yellow rectangular packs at approx 65p. According to our consultant you can have 7 as a Healthy Extra B! She warms them in the toaster for approx 20 secs and has them with a tin of beans
Enjoy the date tonight Katie0 -
After reading this thread for a while I have decided to join you all, I hope you don't mind! Here is my story, sorry for the length.....
In July last year I went to hospital and was told I had a brain lipoma, which is essentially a fatty lump in my brain which will grow slowly and the only treatment would be surgery if I developed fits etc. The consultant then went on to lecture me about my weight which was nearly 20 stone and the risks of cancer and joint problems etc etc. I was really cross (and obviously in denial about my weight) that he was talking so much about my weight when I was there to talk about my brain scan. He then went on to say that no way would they be able to operate if they wanted to in the future as it would be highly dangerous with all my weight on. When I got back to my mums who was looking after my son I broke down and with my family there I told everyone my real weight which I had never let on about because I didn't want them to be cross with me. Of course they weren't cross they were just worried and said this was my wake up call to do something at 40 years old. I went away determined to do something but didn't know how to set about it at all. I had seen the Diet Doctor on Richard & Judy and I thought his diet would seem easy to follow so I ordered his book. I could not exercise very well but my husband decided we would start doing a walk every night with the children. Well I thought I was having a heart attack my very first time and for ages I really struggled as I had so much weight to carry around but I kept going. Since July I have lost nearly 7 and a half stone, I am no longer a size 26/28 but am wearing size 14 jeans, size 16/18 tops and I feel so much better at 12 and a half stone. I still would like to lose another stone and a half so keep on with my diet which I don't consider to be a diet at all just a lifestyle choice, I eat 5 times a day, 3 meals and 2 snacks and don't feel hungry most of the time.
I hope you didn't mind me butting in on your thread!
If anyone can help I would love to start making my own healthy diet soups but am not a very good cook so have looked on the moneysaving site. My two attempts still haven't gone very well, all I want to make is veg soup so if anyone on here can help me I would be grateful.

Just wanted to say Bildanto thank you for that amazingly inspirational post! You have done so wonderfully, and I suspect the side effects of your losing weight has made your family fitter with your evening walks too... Really shows what you can do with a bit of determination and support from your family - congratulations!
Have you checked out the recipe thread for the soups? It's on the first post of this thread - haven't time to reproduce as am off to Dublin in 20 mins!If you don't have anything nice (or constructive) to say... DON'T SAY IT!0 -

Ok why didn't my quote bit look like every one elses???0 -
Hi Bildanto  What an inspirational story - I love hearing stories like this, it really inspires me and motivates me to believe that losing weight CAN be done. Well done to you, the health benefits alone must be marvelous.
A really easy and low fat soup which I make and love is sweet potato and red pepper. Basically sautee an onion, add 2 roughly chopped red peppers and 2 or 3 peeled and roughly chopped sweet potatoes, along with 2 pints chicken stock. Simmer for about 10-15 mins or until potatoes are soft then blitz in the blender. My all time favourite and so quick and fool proof to make :rotfl:
Jo - I havent tried the crackerbread yet, although I have had it before when on several faddy diets
Having a red day today for a change. Please tell me cooked ham is freeI was hungry on the way home from work and called into Sainsburys to get a few things, bought a packet of cooked ham and ate the lot
Having SW version of chicken kiev for tea, I wish DH would hurry up, I'm starving!

I bought the wholewheat crackerbread after my consultant mentioned it at s/w. I like it with extra light philly and slice toms on it. though I must say I can't eat 7. 3 normally do me or 4 at a push.HOW MUCH ?0

You could buy the 2nd hand bike and replace the saddle with a brand new one, it surely will still be cheaper than a whole new bike?
Sorry about the bike M-K. Did they steal it from the same place the first time?'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
i'll vouch for honey's soup it is truly lush. I was sceptical the first time but am hooked now. I sometimes add a tin of sweetcorn too.
Back from london now and really enjoyed my course. Foodwise didn't do toooo badly and the rest of the week is planned so I'm happy about that. Went out for dinner whilst I was there and opted for dim sum - not sure how that works for SW as I can't find it on the syns online. on theone hnd it's pastry but on the other it's healthy and rice and steamed. Still I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was definitely better for me than a KFC! Came home tonight though and was desperate for junk, don't know why. I have a planned in treat already scheduled though and it's kept me from going crazy. Well done to all the losers out there, some really encouraging results going on.0 -
Hi again, its nice to hear some really inspirational stories - maybe we will all be able to tell our weight loss acheivements one day very soon!!
I managed really well yesterday - I know - it was only one day but I must take it one step at a time!! But today was pancake day, as you know and I have had four!!! Only used the teeniest drop of oil and had sweetener and lemon juice on so I am hoping it won't make much difference.
I have only had cereal, salad, fruit and a crumpet though as yet for today so I hope I can keep this up. Fancy chocolate (as always) but I am hoping to keep that at bay as well - 2 days without must be a record!
Sorry for going on but putting it all down will help keep me on track, I'm sure.
I noticed there is another BargainBabe on this thread too - so theres two of us to keep a note of! Good luck all x
There are loads of lovely recipes over on the Old Style board - so check out if there are any low fat ones (just a word of caution - keep off the cakes and biscuits threads - lovely but you know, a wee bit fattening!!)
Take care and keep going BBxxIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0
