British Gas - Click Energy or Click Energy 2

This article in the Guardian (see link below) is well worth a read if you are with BG.
“From Monday, British Gas will find itself in the unusual position of offering the cheapest gas and electricity rates - so customers who signed up for one of its seven "price protection" deals when bills were rising, now need to think carefully about what to do……………..
…………….Customers unsure of which tariff they are on should check their bill - or call the company.
Those on its Fix and Fall deals have no lock-in and should switch to the Click 2 product, as should those on its predecessor Click 1. The company, bizarrely, has chosen not to automatically switch customers to the cheaper Click 2 deal - so unless they take action, they will be paying more…………”

I just phoned the dedicated Click helpline and the guy said that Click 1 people will not be moved over to click 2 automatically.0

Don’t know about the value of ringing BG help lines - I was told I would be transferred automatically.
I must say BG has not been very transparent about their intentions - as the Guardian says it is a bizarre situation.
Anyway to be on the safe side, I did a “switch” on the BG site which admittedly was a two minute job.
It will be interesting to see what happens down the line because I’m sure, for one reason and another, many won’t manually do the switch.0 -
I did the switch on the house.co.uk site, took all of about 30 seconds.0

Yep, I did this as well after I had put the phone down. When I log in it still has all the click branding so who knows if its worked. It will probably take them a few months to update my account details on their 'award winning' website anyway
LOL yeh, it will probably be like that or the first bill will still have the old Click prices
There seems no way to tell what tarrif you are on from the clickenergy.co.uk website, hmm who knows if that will change....
I dont expect it to be plain sailing........0 -

Hmmm ! I rang BG today to find out which package my recently deceased Mother was on for both Gas & Electric.
I was told she was on on "standard" rates for both, when I said I was looking at Click 2 rates I was told that the new reduced standard rates were the cheapest !!!!!!
Perhaps she should look at her own website !0 -
I have just spent a long time on the 'phone to speak to British Gas about their dire customer service and misleading pricing. (Thanks to 1899 and saynoto0870 this only cost 5p.)
I have now been told that the Click Energy Economy 7 prices as from 13 March 2007 are unchanged from those stated on 8 January 2007!
I am sure I will be moving again (fourth time) when the current round of price changes has stabilised.
I find it amazing that companies still operate in this way. I had deep reservations about changing to British Gas last July and their company culture is far worse that I believed possible.0 -

I'd wait til the end of april if I was you.....see the result of all of the price changes from all suppliers. I don't think you'll be moving from BG though...It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
