Stop the presses!
BG have announced they are reducing the click 2 tariff further so customers can make further savings. There is an article on the BBC about this.
Hold onto your hats, the extra discount will amount to an average of... £4 per year!!! I feel quite overcome.
Steady mse'ers, don't spend it all at once...

Amazingly - - Click Energy "Orginal" is not affected by the March 12th, 2007 price cuts.
I was advised, and I re-confirmed my understanding, that to benefit from any price cuts, I would need to move from Click Energy "Original" to Click Energy2 on March 12th, 2007. If I was to move before that date I would be charged at the Current British Gas "Standard" Rate between the request to change and March 12th.
My changeover in December to Click Energy went smooth enough, but to treat customers like this, and to promote price cuts (They even sent me an e-mail) that will never happen is out of order!
Thanks for that Andy.
...it's not very good news for economy 7 customers on Click Energy, they will not be able to move to Click Energy 2 as it doesn't support two rate metering.:mad:This product is currently only available online to properties with gas credit and single rate electricity credit meters. If you are unclear what meter your property has please visit your meter explained.
...double Grrr!:mad:0 -
I’ve only zoomed in on Click Energy, but I assume other online accounts are similarly set up, and see it is heavily geared with discounts and conditions. Once you have worked out kwh x pence it is the discounts that make the difference.
If you don’t met the conditions you don’t get the discounts. For instance with Click 2 if you are NOT dual fuel, monthly direct debt, single meter (as Paul points out) and using their target usage levels you will not receive the max discount of £94.32. In fact you could soon be only receiving around the £20 level.

Click 2 Gas Discounts:
Monthly Direct Debit Customer Discount = 10.3% of bill up to a maximum £15.08 per quarter)
In essence your gas bill has to be £585+ per year to receive the max yearly discount of £60.32.
Standing Order Customer Discount* = 5.4% up to a maximum £2.50 per quarter.
* includes Cash / Cheque charges also apply to Standing Order, Quarterly Variable Direct Debit, Monthly Payment Card & Quarterly Equal Payments.
So if you don’t pay by DD (but as above) your bill has to be £185 + per year to receive the max yearly discount of £10.
Therefore the total yearly gas discount (max) for monthly DD customers is £60.32 and the rest £10.
**********************************
Click 2 Electric Discounts:
Dual Fuel Customer = £15 per year.
Monthly Direct Debit & Standing Order = 4.8%, up to a maximum of £4.75.
This means your electric bill needs to be £395+ per year to receive the full year discount of £19.
Therefore the total yearly electric discount (max) for the dual fuel customers is £34.00 - and if you are not dual fuel it is £19.

Thanks for that Erikin, Looking at Energy Helpline today I would save a grand total of 0.00p by switching to Click Energy 2.
Energy Helpline Quotes for Click Energy 2 (Yorkshire)
14.703p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 8.207p thereafter
My Click Energy is (Post Jan):
12.492p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 8.945p thereafter
Even if I switch to another supplier I would save less than £15 so I will stick with Click Energy for now and monitor the situation.
Cheers,

Glad I could be of some help Mike. I’m Click Energy dual fuel and like you waiting to see how things settle down.
Still awaiting official news about what will happen with Click Energy customers in relation to Click 2. I shall be most surprised if BG requires current Click customers to actively switch to Click 2 to get the benefits.
For this reason: BG would be making a customer make a conscious and deliberate decision – so come the day many would say well I have to switch so I may as well take this opportunity to go to another supplier. Surely BG wouldn’t want to put themselves into the position of losing customers so easily.
The sensible move would be to change customers by default – you move to Click 2 without doing anything. Only if you don’t want Click 2 do you have to take action.
Time will soon tell.0 -
Lets hope you are right Erikin or the queues on the phone to BG on March 12th will be a nightmare! I will be in the queue to switch my click to click 2...0

Well with the first 225Kwh units being more expensive on Click 2 I am actually no better off if I switch at my current usage levels.
Judging by the fact it takes ~4 weeks to get a reply to any Click Emails at the best of times I can imagine March being a stressful time for anyone wanting to switch from Click to Click 2.
I emailed about 3 weeks ago asking for my pretty hefty credit balance to be refunded and so far nada. My credit balance is just going up and up and up because my monthly DD is over the odds. The stupid annoying thing is that BG keep trying to UP my DD even though my usage is nowhere near at my DD levels. Hence first bill after winter and I am still £135 in credit.
Bloody useless, I love Ebico for my Gas because its quarterly bills and low prices and no DD. Its so annoying with BG as they just rape my bank for cash when they need it at the moment. I have lost count how many times I have had to demand they lower my DD back to normal levels.

It would be easy to believe with all the news headlines of energy price cuts we are in for big savings. It is a bit of a mirage really.
In early Jan 07, I feed my yearly gas/electric usage figures into an online switch site and was quoted for Click Energy the sum of £938.10. Now a month later I fed the same figures into the same site and I am quoted £924.36 for Click Energy 2. This is a saving of less than 1.5%.
Having said that Click Energy 2 is my best choice at the moment. It is only because BG bumped up their prices for a few weeks that these discount headlines can be put about.
But at least prices are coming down for a change.0
