British Gas - Click Energy or Click Energy 2

One problem I can see with the 'Click Energy 2' product is that it is not available to economy7 customers -This product is currently only available online to properties with gas credit and single rate electricity credit meters. If you are unclear what meter your property has please visit your meter explained
In the past, Click has been a very competitive tariff for those using economy 7 storage heating... it looks like BG no longer want these customers...0 -
British Gas, I see, have been tinkering with the Click 2 price rates from when I last made a calculation last Saturday.
Using the same gas usage of 20000kwh as I did then when the sum came to £544.54 for the year the new calculation is £539.65 - which is lower by £4.89.
From what I see the electricity rate is still the same.

Click Energy 2 Gas prices as Fri 16 Feb - The “standing charge” is 4.346 – 2.210 = 2.136 x 4572 = £97.65 per year or £8.13 per month.
Therefore 20000 kwh for the year would cost 20000 x 2.210p = £442.00 + £97.65 = £539.65 per year.

Looks like the minds of the energy suppliers are being concentrated - probably a good time to sit back and let the dust settle.0 -
Has anyone else tried the comparison sites to see what the savings are between Click Energy and Click Energy 2?
I have tried a number and the annual savings range between £140 and £155.
As the only prices available for 2 are from 12/3 I guess this is what they are comparing against.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it - Bob Hope.

Is British gas price drop worth staying with them?
3 November 2006
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6112304.stm
They announce price rise:
Gas +33.6%
Electric +13.7%
16 February 2007
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6368409.stm
They announce price drop:
Gas -17%
Electric -11%
So aren't we still paying more by 16.6% (gas) and 2.7% (electric)?0 -
According to all the price comparison sites I have tried they all quote BG Click Energy 2 as the cheapest of any supplier for my usage.

Just called "House.Co.Uk" the call centre that look after the Clink Engergy Tariff.
Amazingly - - Click Energy "Orginal" is not affected by the March 12th, 2007 price cuts.
I was advised, and I re-confirmed my understanding, that to benefit from any price cuts, I would need to move from Click Energy "Original" to Click Energy2 on March 12th, 2007. If I was to move before that date I would be charged at the Current British Gas "Standard" Rate between the request to change and March 12th.
My changeover in December to Click Energy went smooth enough, but to treat customers like this, and to promote price cuts (They even sent me an e-mail) that will never happen is out of order!

Thanks Andy. You appear to be the first to get anything out of BG. Like you I have also received the email advising of price cust even though they know I am a Click customer to which it appears the cuts will not apply.
Perhaps Martin should be publicising this further.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it - Bob Hope.

I've registered a complaint about BG to the advertising standards agency - in my view last week's ads in the newspapers about the price cuts were misleading. Maybe others can join? In the ads, and in the e-mails Click 1 customers have rececived we have been told to "do nothing" so as to get the cuts. I hope Martin looks into this - we should be able to claim compensation for monies lost. Again, BG are an utter disgrace!
I think maybe it is about time for legislation to force companies to be crystal clear with their pricing - even eliminating the insidious 2 tear rates, which only encourage high use. In my experience rates last year with every company (except Ebico) increased at a much higher rate on the primary units - I bet we see lower pecentage decreases on these too - as has been pointed out, Click 2 primary gas rates are 20% higher than Click 1 primary rates, and 10% higher even after applying the convoluted discount!0 -
I don’t trust advertising anyway so these shenanigans are no surprise if confirmed. I’ll look after me and try to keep my eye on the ball as they say.
Click Energy 2. Using Gas 23000 kwh and electric 4500kwh over 1 year.
My calculations: Gas at £605.95 and electric at £427.77 = £1033.72 + max discounts of £94.32 = an annual bill of £939.40.
Online quote (EnergyHelpLine): Given annual quote of £937.00.
The sting in the tail for me is if the annual bill is less than about £585 for gas and £395.00 for electricity you do not receive max discount but a lesser % of the discount allowance.
So the online quote is only £2 out - this little exercise has given me added faith in the Energyhelpline site.0
