If I am the Newbie you think it is strange that my first post is to plug this company then let me clarify. I have sent over 100 parcels with Paypound express on Monday and since I knew they were having a few problems thought I would google to see what others had to say. It infuriates me that people are so quick to judge, and to those happy to pay inflated courier prices then great, keep paying them as it will clogg up Paypound less for my deliveries:rotfl:
It is now Thursday and it appears 70% of my orders arrived next day, (ok, 100% would have been better) but the last 5% that still haven't arrived have been promised by the morning. It is their first week, apparently all their systems went down and some drivers didn't turn up for work. They have dealt with all of my concerns immediately and I believe they will offer excellent value once they have ironed out this weeks problems. Someone answers the phone within 1 ring and I have had responses from their technical support as late as 10pm. I am in no way affiliated with them, I send very large amounts of ebay parcels and this has caused me a nightmare week but I will be giving them another go0 -
Hello all,
Newbie here, - first posting too.
Was quite excited to hear of this Paypound company today by chance, - after the Royal mail costing me several hundred pounds last year, and then discovering that 'Recorded' post is not tracked at all - only scanned in at the post office and signed for by the customer. I believe it was in October 2011, RM lost a second very expensive parcel (just under £200), that helped me make my mind up, that 2012 would have me searching for another courier. My problem is, the average customer will not pay for 'special delivery' and so each parcel is only insured for £49 with RM. Now you might say that I should insist they pay for the special delivery which would cover them up to £500, but my business is a 'niche' market and the parts are expensive and I would lose the customer if I were to force increased postage as competitors will go with cheaper postage.....so it is not an option for me.
Now when RM lost my 2nd expensive parcel in as many months, and knowing how big and bright (flourescent orange) this particular package was, I was determined to try and track it down. I got on to the management of RM and they started an investigation. This is how I discovered that no one takes responsibility, as the items are not tracked at each depot.... just scanned in at PO and signed for at destination. So anywhere in between is 'no mans land and any item can be pilfered, lost or discarded and no one would be any the wiser. Now a senior manager took up my complaint and made calls to each and every depot that would have had contact with my large ,bright parcel, but no one had seen it. I said that I felt they have thieves on the firm. The manager replied with something totally unexpected, but far more worrying in some ways. He told me, (off the record) - that it was far more likely, that due to the immense pressure that some of the delivery personnel are under and the fact that they also fear loosing their jobs if not managing to finish all deliveries, that some drivers will actually take post home. So there we have it.....to me this is theft, as how will they resolve finishing their deliveries - as next day they will have more post to complete..... Regardless, neither of the two expensive packages were ever found, and that doesn't begin to mention the smaller less expensive items that don't make it to their rightful owners.
I have my large RM mail bags and relevant stickers, labels and recorded RM delivery books, delivered to my place of business by RM. During my correspondence with the senior manager, I had 50 large mail bags delivered to me. Whilst removing the top layer of bags out of the main bag containing them all, I noticed objects in the bottom of the main bag. I tipped the bag out and to my complete dismay, there was two 'large' boxes' and some post - all undelivered to their rightful owners, but instead 'lazily' overlooked by the sorting office. I immediately got on to my personal RM man who deals with my questions via e-mail and then also told the senior manger TWICE in two separate conversations..... Well they both said how awful this was and how this should never happen. I was told the packages and post would be collected with in 24 hours by both people..... Well 2 and a half months later, - they are still here.....This tells me everything I need to know about the care taken and the lack of respect that goes on at the RM......
So I will be giving one of the cheaper couriers a go......afterall, I don't see how they can do worse and on the other side of the coin, most new businesses will try extra hard to get some sort of reputation going..... that's how I got my business off to a good start anyway....
Oh nearly forgot - my own local PO manager has actually told me NOT to put 'fragile' stickers on any items, as he is aware that some employees will purposely mistreat these items - probably a few select 'knuckle draggers', but they do get employed by RM - you couldn't make it up - So please be warned........0 -

I suggest you pass those comments to Moira or the RM twitter that some drivers will actually take post home. So there we have it.....to me this is theft, as how will they resolve finishing their deliveries - as next day they will have more post to complete..... what would a Post Office manager knows of what goes on it Royal Mail delivery and mail centres? I can guarantee the majority have never been near either
I tried to wade through that post, easier if you didn't lazily not bother with breaking it up0 -
Having had such a bad experience with RM, you are going to downgrade further to a firm that beleive it can do better for a quarter the price? Generally speaking, it's usually the other way round -- you get what you pay for. If you want a more reliable service, pay the price. ParcelForce seem to be the best IMO and that is well and truly reflected in the price.
Also, i'd be sending goods worth £200 via special delivery, not recorded.
Also remember, 'fragile' tape isn't an alternative to sufficient packaging.0 -
I received a parcel delivered by Paypound Express, on schedule and with no issues. The driver apologised for asking me to sign in a book, as he hadn't been issued with his box of tricks.
The address label was also printed with Parcelflight.co.uk, so I guess that company charged my eBay seller over £9.00 and then farmed out the delivery to Paypeanuts.0 -
Have used Paypound for a couple of days now, few teething problems, but I think they will get it together very quickly. I say give them a chance as it's about time that we had realistic postage costs rather than the extortionate charges made by Royal Mail and some of the independant courriers working off the back of huge companies for very large profits. Good luck to Paypound Express. Hope it is successful.
And you think a pound is realistic? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Four newbies posting about a brand company? Hmmmm.......The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Service is aparently down again
Been told that there PDA's have stopped working again and no collections until further notice. The've even advised me to use a diffrent courier service :L
any one else had any decent service from this company?
Just emailed my driver as he knows whats going on more than they seem to.
Don't think they can cope with the few hundred order they've had.0 -
So the service is called Paypound and they claim they will deliver my parcel for £1...
But the minimum invoice I'll end up paying is £20... plus VAT... and I have to pay to open an account?
Has RyanAir diversified into parcel delivery?0 -
