I wasn't explicitly stating that you were, just using it as an example in response to a previous post. I'm pretty sure you can't speak about the company you work for but check the forum rules. The thing is, your username is almost the same as the company name so people are likely to consider you the company representative, and you need pre-approval for that.

How do we know he's not really one of the owners? As far as I know if you work for a company and you're speaking up for them, you need permission from the forum admin. That's why we see all the authorised company representatives posting around the forum.

But he's not speaking on behalf of the company, he's speaking on behalf of himself. Many people around here defend their employers (we have the supermarket workers to the ex-posties) -- doesn't make it any less of their own opinions and anymore of the companies representation.

I actually don't understand why anyone would use a new unknown service for sending 'real' deliveries before testing it first?! It would only cost £24 to do a test delivery - perhaps send a free gift to 20 of your best customers in return for some feedback on the deliveries (if any!). At least that way you would know if they are worth using for real.

I agree with this. I fear too many people are going to jump straight on the bank wagon, loose alot of money and wonder why.

Fraud is an intentional deception made for gain.

Did the driver above not say they don't have enough staff to cover the UK yet their web site, in quite some detail, says they do.

If that's not fraud, it's certainly deceptive practices. Practices that have cost my business hundreds of pounds in product and goodwill.

And how are they gaining through deception? They (unless you have evidence otherwise..) plan on fulfilling the service and delivering the parcel. It's just they are short-staffed and the level of service received will be severly affected.

Otherwise based on this logic -- my local Costa is fraudulent, as they seldomly have enough staff on -- yet advertising to the masses to enjoy their products!!

Unfortunately we all make bad decisions in business sometimes that cost us a lot of money. Learn not to make to same mistake twice.
  • i will make 50p per parcel delivered and 20p per parcel collected i would be hoping to deliver 100 perday and collect at least 200 per day therefore making £90 that is the minimum i would be hoping to take my diesel is the only outgoing i would not still have to pay even if unemployed and this works out at roughly 25-30 perday. the 200 per day could quite easily be surpassed as ive stated i have 1 company in my region wanting to send 1000 per week when things are sorted. and hopefully in the future more and more companies will be using us so(again hopefully) i could quite easily be doing 200-300 collections per day. as time goes by and more and more parcels are being sent then there will be dedicated collections drivers and delivery drivers. you are quite right about the same amount of parcels collected and delivered but not by the same driver. more and more drivers are being recruited all the time to handle the amount collected to make sure they are delivered. obviously a collection of 100 in nottingham for example wouldnt all be going to nottingham so they would get sorted through different drivers. my ultimate dream is for 2 or 3 companies in my region to be sending 1000 a week and having 2 drivers to deliver whatever comes into my area therefore making £600 a week for not a lot of trips. the company do guarantee a minimum income for us so even if we dont have many at mo we are still getting paid.

Although I realise you are just trying to stick up for your employers, you cannot post on this forum on behalf of a company without prior permission.

He is not posting on behalf of a company, he is posting his own experiences. That rule is for representatives who post her to answer specific queries etc.

Maybe it's just the sceptic in me, but I don't believe they pay 50p for delivered parcels. This effectively leaves them with 30p/parcel to run an infrastructure (including hubs, transportation between hubs, CS teams, sales teams, organisors at hubs ect ect ect).

I just don't see 200-300 parcels/day being acheived, especially since it's already been said at another mainstream courier you delivered about 130 parcels.

I do wish you all the best with this, but I know people that have worked for Hermes (who operate a similar model) and think you're being a little bit optimistic.

They will simply overwork current staff (for little pay).

    Or re-sell the delivery.

As others have said that isn't viable. I don't understand why they've gone in at £1. If I was daft enough to try and get into this business I'd be starting at a price that undercut RM at 1kg, so around £2.50/£3 then you'd get business interest and have more to play with.

No insurance gives me the view that if a driver has to go another ten miles for one delivery they may as well throw it over a hedge and lose 50p rather than cost them a pound or two in petrol.

Nothing that was around before they started would entice me to use them and anything since has made me even less inclined.

"Give them a chance" is all very well if it was an odd parcel here and there to a friend or relative but I'd be pretty much giving my business over to them with no guarantees. They may have to "start somewhere" but that somewhere wont be by ruining my business. I'm still recovering from the mess Yodel made just before Christmas, trusting staff who they may have just laid off isn't a good way forward.

No you don't. There are several forum members who work for different companies and will defend them, if they needed permission to do so, the forums would be pretty empty.

They don't have to do the delivering themselves. They can re-sell the delivery.

I did think of that, but when they have just 80p left from the arcel (based on the 20p paid to collection drivers the other poster stated) I can't see them finding another company willing to take it on nor can I imagine they'd be so keen on making a loss per parcel. Could be wrong though.
