We drink PG tips too, stocked up LOADS when Iceland had the 240 pack for £3 and I had 20% discount.
But otherwise if we run out and there are absolutely no decent offers on then we firstly check for offers on Yorkshire tea. If there's no deals on either then I personally think Sainsburys red label tea tastes very similiar to PG. Also you can buy the big 480 bag pack for £6.70, so that's £3.35 for 240, which isn't too bad.
Unlike others in this thread I can't say I really liked Sainsburys basics. I found it was rather tasteless myself.0 -

My oh is a snob when it comes to brands but he is quite happy to drink this and to top it off they are only 27p!!!
Yep, these are great, I won't buy branded ones anymore, these taste just as good if not better.
Hard to believe I know but give them a try, you only have 28p to lose and a hell of a lot to save if you like them.0 -
I tried the Sains basics some time ago after reading about them on here. The first box were ok ish, the second were dreadful & ended up being binned. I do like my tea strong & found the basics needed to brew for so long it was cold before I could drink it. I also thought it gave an anemic looking cup of tea, which may have made it taste weak.
I've not found anything that gives a consistently good cup of tea, other than PG. A lot of others taste stale to me.0 -

I hate weak tasting tea and have always found the Sains basics make a strong cup of tea, without leaving it to stew.
It may be worth trying again, if you still don't like them you could use them on your plants.0 -
I agree, I hate weak tea but find Sainsburys basics stong enough0

I might try the Sainsburys ones - well when I say 'I' I actually mean dh as I don't drink tea - I currently get Tetleys 88 bags for 99p from Home Bargains (been sneaky there - there always used to be 100 bags in the box) - Will he notice? He tends to drink whatever the lads pick up at work so isn't that bothered
Mind it will be a while - we still have a new box to open and he only drinks 1 cup a day0 -
Bought a box of Yorkshire tea bags today in my local Spar (Durham area). The pack contains 40 bags + 100% extra making it 80 tea bags for £1.0
