I will definitely try Sainsury's basic now, after all the recommendations!
OH is a big PG fan, all my family are and when Morrisons had them on offer (I think £2.72 for 240 bag), we all stocked up. I now have enough to last me for a until 2014!You'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel0 -
We love tea and use Asda's Chosen by you but we drink Decaf and they seem to be the cheapest I have found but if anyone knows of any cheaer ones please let me know!0

Personally I thought the Sainsbury's Basics ones were bloody awful, but then I am a massive tea snob. If it's a bargain your after, then I definetely recommend trawling Poundland/99p stores as have often seen branded tea in there, decent sized boxes too.0

we are off on the tea bag hunt!!! will post when weve tried them later and give our results!!!
xx
to be honest more excited about getting out of the house. havent seen daylight since last monday!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
ok!! So got the Sainsburys fair trade basics. 27p for 80.
then on way home got Asda 78p for 40, so still a whole lot cheaper than Mr PG Tips!
Got out 2 lovely cups and saucers .
Made them both the same as best i could with a little skimmy milk, ust as i like it.
TADAAAAA!!!(Trumpet roll) the results are in.................
The Asda ones win hands down for us....in fact VERY suprised at how little difference between them and PG...Mind you, i only drink weak tea, so is you like a stronger cup not sure.
The Sainsbury Basics was a bit tasteless the way i made it, but going to try it again (and again probably) to see if i can get a decent brew.
But for now...we're saying Asda chosen by you....
Anyone else tried comparing ?:)

Well, I got some Sainsburys basic ones today. First brew I made was dreadful as I put in too much skimmed milk so I added another tea bag. Second brew I made I let it brew for longer and it was lovely. Am going to get some more:)0

I agree Aldi Diplomat Gold tea bags are pretty good. I usually drink PG when on offer, but for stand by get these Aldi bags. They are not weak, though not as strong as PG, but they make a refreshing, fresh tasting cuppa, really nice.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
I buy Lidl's standard tea bags, 160 for £1.99. I used to buy PG or Twinings but both were getting ridiculously pricey for something that is used so often. I am fond of the teabags and honestly cannot taste much difference. I keep buying them and value the fact that I know that they will probably cost the same each time I go to buy them. No deal hunting needed for me0

I buy Aldis red box tea bags too - I like my tea with sugar but no milk. and these teabags remind me of the taste of the loose tea mum used to buy. I like mine strong so tend to leave it to steep for 4 or 5 mins and the taste is really lovely. OH came back from shopping with Tetleys and I couldnt drink it - bitter and weak - didnt taste of tea at all! Aldi seems to have ruined me for some brands - tho if I can get hold of some, real Earl Grey tea is my luxury cuppa!0

sainsburys basics for me .
the only value brand worth drinking - and I drink lots of it !
 same here, 27p a box and great strong taste, I drink about 8 cups a day too, I bought the 240 Typhoo teabags on offer in Sainsburys, £2.42 I think? but I find with Basics, PG, Tetley and Typhoo I can reuse the teabag a 2nd time and get 2 strong cups out of them all ....sad I know!:D0
