Aldi's teabags in the red box are excellent. I used to be a devoted tetley drinker but they are fab. They are £1.69 for 160
  • Co Op's own brand tea or Aldi gold box, are both lovely!

People compain about the price of quality tea-bags and then use 1 in a cup to make one cup of tea, what a waste of money,of couse you dont do you?..........1 decent tea bag will make 3/4 cups of tea if you use a 1 litre flask after brewing in a tea pot for 4 minutes, then pouring into a 1 litre flask......topping up to 1 litre with boiling water, the tea will improve in strength over the next 3/4 hours
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!

Have to agree with this post. I've always been a bit of a tea snob, and have always brought PGTips, as I do like a strong cup of tea. After overhearing a couple of ladies chatting in my local Aldi just before Christmas, about their Tbags, I thought I'd give them a try. They make a fantastic cup of strong tea. I've been converted to those! Well worth a try if you like strong tea.

My first post here too. :o

  • I used to use PG Tips until I worked out what I was paying! I then tried Tesco Value (yuk!!), Lidl cheap one (just passable) and then the Sainsbury Basics. I have not turned back, and will not go back to PG Tips even if there is an extremely good offer on, often have compliments from visitors who are then astonished to learn which Tea Bags they are!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Sainsburys have Typhoo 240's for £2.60
  • well, i think we ought to buy a few of these alternatives and do a blind testing at home!!
no one has pg on offer at the moment, and stocks are well low, so will get hubby to pick up the aldi and sainsbury ones, and maybe the lidl ones tomorrow.
we were just talking about what else we could downshift to. already gone to Asda smart price bran flakes. 77p. lovely. we tried the lidl ones. not bad but think theyre a bit more expensive than that.

anyone got any good downshift products that we could try?
will report back re testing...looking forward to it!!:T:T:T
    thanks for your responses x

I'm currently in the same position, having nearly run out (bought mine when they were really cheap at Iceland).

Twinings were lovely - Iceland did them cheap a while back - wish I had stocked up.

Sainsburys basics weren't bad, quite a sweet raisin type of flavour!

Yorkshire tea makes a lovely cuppa too (especially if you like the strength of PG Tips).

I can't stand Typhoo, I thought they tasted horrid!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

If you really use a lot Poundstretcher had 1100 teabags for £9.99. They were PG Tips. Sorry I don't go in very often so couldn't tell you if they are still there (assuming all the shops stock the same products).
