but the term baby is ambiguous, my mum still sees me as her baby and i'm 27!! and when is a baby not a baby and now a toddler? when they can walk?talk? there was no age limit on the program just 'mother and baby'0

This is appalling. We need to keep track of whoever carries out these crazy policies. Whichever political party runs the council should be boycotted at the ballet box next time around (for that particular council). Things like the OP problems promote community division, who is dividing communities? Not the minorities but the PC lunatics.

In my mind, mother and baby sessions are completely different to women only sessions....so they wouldn't let me in then as I'm childless? But I am a woman lol.
If they are going to do this; which is fine by me really; then it should be 'parent and baby' (or caregiver) and women only sessions. Then we'd all know that men can't go in on the women only sessions.
....Well.....it made sense in my head anyhoo lol:cool: Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
By Asian, I assume he meant Muslim, well they wear full outfit when in the pool anyway.0

Justie wrote:I have to say that the tone of some of the posts on this thread are making me decidedly uncomfortable. The OP has every right to be annoyed as the staff at the swimming pool treated her and her partner terribly. And there is a legitimate debate as to whether sessions should be mum & baby or parent and baby. To use the issue to make general swipes at the Muslim community or anyone not English leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. The MSE community as I have experienced it has been supportive tolerant and above all inclusive. I hope it stays that way and I'll now leave this thread and go and post on ones I feel more comfortable on.
Although I haven't posted on this thread, I would agree with many of the posts this seems to disagree with. However, I do not think any of the posts are anti-muslim but are attacking those who think we should behave in a certain way to avoid offending others without asking 'others' if they are likely to be offended. How can they speak for other groups? - that's what gets me angry. (sorry - rant over)Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

That's just it. I would be surprised if any Asian Women or women in general had complained at all. These "inclusion" policies are all thought up by men in suits with no common sense IMO. I know scores of people with ethnic minorities and with different cultures who love seeing Christmas decorations up etc and do not expect special rules just for them. Most I think would feel patronised by these policies if anything. I have never heard a complaint about non-inclusion.0 -
Some of the comments ont his thread are making me feel uncomfortable.Dare i say this but.........I am a muslim  ,and go to a womans swimming session which is on a saturday, 3-15pm until 4pm. Its scheduled and there havent been any issues like the op has had. Alot of posts here indicate that its extreme to have this, but our swimming group include other non muslim women who want a womans group only,(and young boys are not shunned either).Oh and by the way, I am white, english and do not have any country to go back to as not to pee off the people who do not understand my wish for 45 minutes of privacy so i can exercise and improve my health as well as spending time with my kids in the pool. I can totally understand the op`s problem and do think there is a difference between mother and babies to womans only swimming groups.I do think it should be parents and babies rather than just mother and babies, as long as its made clear to the public that this means the group may be mixed sex.
Just because there are woman only swimming sessions which serve mainly muslim women, doesnt mean that they do not intergrate,Doesnt mean they wouldnt welcome ladies from other faiths. There are some issues i do not agree with, but never in a million years would i make some-one feel unwanted just because they had different beliefs/ways to me.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -
