When I had my first baby, he was lying with his legs wide apart on the scan, so it was pretty obvious he was a boy!

When I had my second, he was all curled up fast asleep with his legs together on his scan, so I couldn't tell. I liked that way best as it was a nice surprise when he was born. I'm glad he was a boy as his brother would have been devastated if I'd brought him a sister home :D
Here I go again on my own....

I've been secretly hoping for a girl too. Haven't told anyone that, not even hubby as I feel rather guilty for developing a preference.. I should be just grateful I'm pregnant after 10 years of treatments.

But my friend brought her 9 month old baby boy round yesterday & he was so gorgeous & soft & lovable ( even when he did a big poo) that I decided I really didn't mind after all. I felt better then!

I was convinced my youngest would be a boy. I already had a son and had lost my first baby in pregnancy which was also a boy.

I convinced myself because the first 2 pregnancies had been boys. I know a lot of people with 3 boys, i barely knew anyone who had had 2 boys and a girl.

I was very surprised when my husband told me we had a girl (after coming round from a GA). It didn't matter i loved her to bits anyway.

Best of wishes to all those expecting.

    xx

hi sasha, yes i felt guilty for having a preference, especially as i think i would have disapproved if hubby had had a preference lol! i tried for 3 years, finally managed it after a small op and during those years of trying whenever i looked at baby clothes in shops or got broody it was always a baby girl i would think of having. i don't know why because my little boy is really lovely and i'm a tomboy, not girly at all (i don't even own a handbag or a pair of shoes that isn't black, apparently that's unusual)! maybe it's nature, making men want sons and women want daughters? some friends had a girl last year and they'd told everyone they desperately wanted a boy, i thought when their girl arrived it was quite sad that everyone knew they were disappointed, and i hope nobody tells her when she's older. so i tried to appear neutral when people asked me what i wanted when i first found out i was pregnant.

all our friends had baby girls last year so it was girls i was cooing over while trying for my baby, but 2 days after we found out the sex we had some people visiting with their baby boy and he was so cheeky and funny with a lovely velvety snuggly head - i make him sound like a rabbit lol!!

it will be great no matter what the sex of your baby is sasha, people sometimes say they wanted a particular sex but when the baby was born they felt a big rush of love and it didn't matter if it wasn't the preferred sex. i couldn't say as i found out the sex of mine beforehand. i have a female rabbit anyhow and she's very naughty, my boy bunnies are much more friendly lol!

spendless my mum has 2 girls then 2 boys and my grans both had 4 boys before having their girls, gran in law had 11 boys before a final girl but i agree it's not too common, i know loads of people who have just girls or just boys.

But love, to some extent, protects you from age.

Levi is a good old-fashioned Jewish name! Biblical too, of course, so not originally Caribbean, no ...

Our baby boy was born today and baby & mum are both doing fine. We think we have agreed on a name - I'll see if my wife has changed her mind when I get back to the hospital in the morning. :D
