Baby names....

Jellyhead - no he can write the shortened version of his name on work. Just when i applied to the school i put his long version down so this is the name that appears on pegs etc. He was asked to write his full name out by his teacher but he got frustrated and couldn't do it!
I have to say though i think there is an element of can't be *rsed as he can spell his sisters name perfectly without asking and that is only 1 letter shorter than his full name.0 -
lol! so should i name my baby paris, or disney, or after the hotel we were in? so many choices :-)
am i the only person to think that children do NOT want to know where their parents did the deed? although i'm named sharon i doubt my parents went to palestine on honeymoon. oh god, what if there was some bizarre fruit eating devil worshipping orgiastic ritual that all the kids did back then? i'm named after a persimmon :eek:52% tight0 -
My little girl was also conceived in Paris whilst visiting Disneyland, but we didn't call her Paris.
I also found out that I was pregnant with son whilst on holiday in Florida and told husband the news in the MGM theme park - but we didn't name him Orlando either - lol.
To th OP my registry office gave the maternity hospital a list of the top 50 names registered there in past 6 months, if you want to use or avoid a name that is popular in your town perhaps ask your own registry office if they do same thing.
Good Luck with your new baby.

im scottish as you can probably tell lol and i married a english man, got married in a english church and had a baby in england so all i wanted was something that would let the poor child know that she had scottish ancestory.. we called her Heather Rose .. although my name is rose her middle name is after my mum who died when i was 6 months pregnant.. we were under a lot of pressure to call her rose but as that was my name we said no but did incoperate it in her names... the nice thing is they both flowers but she only gets called the full name when she is naughty lolThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
heather and rose are both really lovely names :-) i'm english but my father and his family are scottish, i have relatives with the name heather. my son kept my maiden name, he didn't want to change it when i got married (he's autistic, was horrified at the thought of changing his name) so he has a scottish surname but his first name is irish, one of his teachers commented, thought it was a bit odd!!
the bounty website has the most popular names registered in february if anyone's interested.
by the way this is not a dig, just a request for information - why are so many kids named mackenzie nowadays? what's the significance? is it something other than a clothing brand? (can't imagine anyone calling their kids after clothing brands 'hot tuna' or 'kangaroo poo')52% tight0 -
Jellyhead - AFAIK MacKenzie is a name that was popular in North America that has made it over here.
Husband has a Canadian relative with a little girl called it. She was born in 1999. Son is at school with a MacKenzie (reception year kids born 1999-2000) but this one is a boy.
Incidentally when i first went to Canada in 1998 i bought a book of babys names there and Brooklyn was in it (in the girls section!).0 -

I wish I could be so carefree, what did the other visitors think.
Les rosbifs aiment faire l'amour l'en public !Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0 -
we took ages over choosing ours but had a couple of names for either sex at the hospital, is bizarre as someone said that when you look at them they appear to be more of one than the other
and as others say, please please please always check the initials otherwise school will be awful, also sound out the names just to check that it's nothing untoward(this coming from a person who works with a Wayne King....who even worse persuaded a girl called Leigh to marry him and take his surname..."Hi I'm Wayne King...and my wife is Leigh King"...doh0 -
