She's a charlatan and a scammer, don't be scared of her. If her "business" was doing so well, why does she not ring you instead of texting and emailing? The only reason that my kids email or text me is because they don't have any credit left on their phone! :rotfl:

If you're worried about her emailing you, set up an "autoreply" which can state that your email account is no longer in use or simply that you are "out of the office". If she hassles you by text then contact your mobile provider and get another sim card, with a different number. In the excellent template letter that another poster provided, add a paragraph that states that you are not willing to enter into any correspondence with her unless it is via post.

And don't beat yourself up over this, bigger and better people than us have been caught out by scammers like this. She knows that you're feeling vunerable and she's just trying to take advantage, cheeky mare. As for her "qualifications", anyone can say that they've got a chemistry degree and her american certificates were probably downloaded from the internet for a few dollars!

Good luck, keep your chin up and let us know how you get on. :)

I just wish I had been more sensible about this then I wouldn't be in this pickle! She knows that you're feeling vunerable and she's just trying to take advantage, cheeky mare. It's awful isn't it? Esp as she tries to come across as some sort of saviour, she was so nice to start with, now I know why. As for her "qualifications", anyone can say that they've got a chemistry degree and her american certificates were probably downloaded from the internet for a few dollars! I do think she is part of some American NLP association as I looked her up... after the fact I hasten to add, and her name was on their list.

Good luck, keep your chin up and let us know how you get on. :) I will do thank you barbiedoll!

This all happened on Tuesday and by Friday I feel so much better, thanks to all of you lovely, kind and helpful posters! x

Thank you scheming_gypsy for championing me!!

You are right she had not started our arranged 'therapy' calls. She just emailed and texted one/two liners of pure nonsense nothing to do with any 'therapy' during the festive period (while she is supposed to be on holiday) I did not ask her to do this, I kep saying I'll catch up with her in the new year, alarm bells started to ring then to be honest as both my husband and I couldn't understnd why she was bombarding me during the Christmas break, while we were away with family.

phone calls are always scheduled in advance, pre-booked with the client and arranged at your convenience, i would never dream of calling a client and just asuming it was ok.

oh and shes very vague about what she's done "working on your behalf" she says that a lot.

a text is not an acceptable form of therapy im afraid, cant bill for that, its not really tangible.

generalised phone calls can't be billed for, i often arrange to call clients and just chat, i consider it free, there is nothing worse than going into a new session and the client dropping an emotional bomb on you you dont know about.

a text is not an acceptable form of therapy im afraid, cant bill for that, its not really tangible. Yes my husband and I found the texts very creepy. I never in a million years would have thought a 'how are you' text was therapy!

That's exactly it we didn't talk about 'therapy' in either of the calls most of both the calls were to do with how she is so good, how if I didn't start soon my place will be given to another person on her waiting list and that she could sort out my life out not just the weight loss part and how the payments would be structured. I knew the first call was free because she told me it was and it is advertised in her website. The 2nd 15 minute call was mainly about sorting out call dates.

I am glad someone who knows about what goes on in this field can reassure me that I am not going out of my mind and she didn't actually do any 'therapy' on me at all! Thanks leebtyler!

Hello again - if you had to commit before "your" slot was given to "someone else", she is either using an artificial urgency as a sales technique (the ASA do not like this FWIW) or she'll hardly have any problems making up for your withdrawal if the other clients are floor to ceiling around her mansion.

Maybe her chemistry degree is real, maybe from a degree mill, fact is it is completely irrelevant. I have an engineering degree, it does not qualify me medically in any sense. It does not make her a pharmacist. Just for clarity.

Associating oneself with a 'big' guy in the USA - well these guys are big not through any special abilities, but as mentioned above, by massive advertising and PR campaigns. Often they PAY to get interview slots on TV networks, they do all the "we helped (annoy) the cops!" stuff, and frankly bluster and frequently lie. It is a money-making affair being a 'big' guy in your field. It makes people feel you must have special powers, and by extension of that, theyg assume you have special powers which helps with an induction, but beyond that, nothing. Being associated with any one of them (and having a photo of hem giving you a certificate !!!!!! - that's tacky!) would scare rather than encourage me in honesty. And getting a certificate after paying for a course, whoopee doo!
  • You'll see whenever Derren Brown (TV guy) does one of his NLP exercises he starts with a big group and whittles it down to a few people who he freely admits are the people who are most suggestible.

Derren Brown doesn't use NLP, he doesn't believe in it. What Derren does is showmanship, misdirection, simple magic tricks, dual reality effects etc.

Indeed. Although he is clever in that he puts "clues" in for those who believe he does use NLP. A good example is when he always wins at rock paper scissors. He doesn't explain how he does it, but if you watch closely when he talks to the person he has his hands in either rock paper or scissors, and that's the same one the person chooses. So the vigilant viewer might assume that that is how he does it. But that's not how it works. A double misdirection.

That said, I still love the bloke!

One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

This is what my husband said too. Instead it sounds like she is very desparate for my money!

Maybe her chemistry degree is real, maybe from a degree mill, fact is it is completely irrelevant. I have an engineering degree, it does not qualify me medically in any sense. It does not make her a pharmacist. Just for clarity. I think she mentions this in her phonecalls and on her website so you think she is very intelligent.

Associating oneself with a 'big' guy in the USA - well these guys are big not through any special abilities, but as mentioned above, by massive advertising and PR campaigns. Hmmm I didn't think of that, as per usual you've got me thinking and looking at it in another angle. I only found this out recently, once this horrible situation started. And getting a certificate after paying for a course, whoopee doo!

I know I should have questioned her far more and researched her much better than I had, before telling her to go ahead. Honestly she seemed so caring and understanding in her first phonecall that I was hooked there and then. I was then in a far weaker and upset frame of mind than I am now though!

Thank you for your post paddyrg!
