I have no problem charging my friends for providing a service that they found useful. My going rate is around 568ml :beer:0 -
I am so delighted to find that there are so many people out there who are willing to give their time up to help and advise a completely stranger who has asked for their help. Things happen for a reason and perhaps this is the way I had to learn this lesson, to finally believe in me. Thank you.
You won't be saying that when we all send you our £1300 invoices :whistle:0 -
I am a retired hypnotherapist and if I charged the sort of fees this charlatan is asking I would be a millionaire by now.
Firstly it shouldn't take more than two to three sessions of weight control for the therapy to take effect. However, if depression is another symptom to be treated my association would not allow me to go beyond eight sessions (at about £35 per session).
Whenever using an alternative practitioner like a hypnotherapist it's always worthwhile to check out their bonafides first; what association are they with, are they properly insured etc.
If you want a pointer to a properly regulated association this is my old one http://www.hypnoanalysis.com/aboutiah.html
Do not use or pay this supposed therapist any more.0 -
Hi Whittleme,
I've followed your posts and it's great that people have helped you sort it out.
I wonder though if it's ok for me to add a bit of an aside. Have you been to see your GP about the depression? The reason I ask is that I used to have problems with depression and consequently I used to "mood" eat - when I was happy, when I was sad, when I wanted a treat, and that was linked to the depression. I now take anti-depressants and my life is so much better. I can now approach my weight loss as a separate issue, and I no longer feel the need to mood eat. I still have a long way to go and will probably have to take the tablets for the rest of my life, but it's worth seeing if they will help you too. Incidentally, I'm on my third kind as it's taken a while to get the right ones for me. If it helps at all feel free to PM me for a chat.Nil Illegitimi desperandum carborundum

This is such a heartening thread!
I am getting towards the outer reaches of my experience here, but just feel it worth piping up about researching bona fides in an unregulated sector - just be conscious of who went on record to say what and why?! The charletans will associate themselves with credible people as hard as they can. You always hear "psychics" talking about offering their services to find a missing person to the police. What you don't hear is that the police get maybe 150+ "psychics" all pointing in different directions and following all their "leads" only distracts from real policing. But each of those psychics will claim to have helped solve the case. You never get the police saying "we would never have solved this case without 150 conflicting, self-interested busybodies". And because someone is an expert in 1 field does not make them expert in all fields - lawyers and doctors get taken in by those 419 email scams, so a lawyer's recommendation for a live blood analyst (or whatever) is worthless. Just bear it in mind for where the testemonials are even genuine!
Derren Brown - the man is excellent! But watch his live audience shows on 4OD, just about every single trick is a physical trick. You cannot risk genuine hypnotic/NLP/mentalism from subtle cues work on a busy stage - but his stage persona relies on people believing in his hypnotic/etc powers being so strong. He is a dazzlingly good and likeable persona and performer, so when he does shows that do rely more on subtleties, hypnosis, etc his audience have already invested heavily in his "special powers". He is also a *brilliant* card handler, but keeps away from card tricks as it spoils the mentalism persona!0 -

Hi timbstoke, as you can see your letter that you very kindly posted has had a positive response. I will add the time limit as some other kind posters have suggested after I find out how long it takes for courts to sort out p/wk.
I wish now I had gone to someone with your kind of going rate it would have saved me a lot of headache and heartache thats for sure!
Thank you again timbstoke!0 -

Arrrggghhhh scheming_gypsy please don't scare me, my blood pressure is already sky high!!!
I had promised the Blood Pressure Nurse that I would try my best and do everything to lower my BP by my next appointment, which is next Thursday... I'm not sure she's going to be happy with me!!
But you have all helped me calm down so much, at least I am not in a state of panic anymore.0 -

However, if depression is another symptom to be treated my association would not allow me to go beyond eight sessions (at about £35 per session). The reason I thought it was okay to pay so much is that she said she would
guarantee that I would lose weight, she sounded so confindent that she could change my way of thinking about food, which would have a positive effect on the rest of my life.
When I asked her to explain the guarantee this was her response -
Thanks for your question, the way the programme works is that the core of the investment is for the Breakthrough session day itself as this is where you make all the mental and emotional changes required for you to ahice your life long results. I allow clients to spread out the payments to make it easier and flexible
The way the guarantee works is that I work with you other day itself so you make all the mental and emotional changes you want and then I keep working with you to assist you in achieving all the ongoing results you want following on from eh day so the programme as tailored to you and runs as long as you want it. All that is required for success are 3 things, its what you want, you are willing to be totally honest with me at all times and you re willing to follow my guidance
As long as those 3 key elements are in place then I will be able to assist you in achieving the results you want and maintain them for life
I have since found out you cannot guarantee results. So I like an idiot fell for that one too.

Thank you Laz123 for your insight. I have checked to see if she is with your association and she is not. The only place I can find her is on an American NLP website where she is a certified NLP trainer... oh yes she does training courses too.0 -

Thank you for your post scorpio_biker!
I know (well think I know) my depression comes from me being over weight, I look at myself and hate what I see and what I have let myself become. My weight issue has affected my health. I have generally always been a happy smiley person but from the summer last year I smiled on the outside but cried on the inside as I just couldn't get a grip on my bad eating habits. I like you used to 'mood' eat that sums me up so well! But by coming on here and getting such wonderful support I've found out all I needed was some peer support to get me through it.
I am hoping as soon as I see changes which will take a while as I have 4 stones to lose my depression will leave me and I can be the happy person I once was inside and out.
Thank you for making me aware of depression side of things as I may need this advice if deep down this isn't a weight issue after all.0 -

You have such a comical way of getting your point across paddyrg! I so understand what you are getting at.
Your sentence 'The charletans will associate themselves with credible people as hard as they can' is so true, she mentioned a man who I looked up and he is huge in America so again stupidly I thought well she has a photo of herself getting a certificate from this man so she must be bonafide.
I don't like to think badly of people until they do something unkind and that's what has happened here, so didn't check things as thoroughly as I should have.0
