Well done for not feeding her in the night Nutella! It's so tempting to give in so you can go back to bed yourself. I'm trying to get George down to one feed in the night rather than two or three but it takes a good hour for him to settle without it. Hope work is ok this afternoon, is LO staying with OH?
Work went well thanks, but I'm knackered - 4 intense hours of absorbing information when you've not even thought about anything work related for months is hard! And I missed my nap... Was away from LO for 6 hours - longest I've ever been away from her, we had to have an extra big cuddle when I got back! OH was at home with her - came back to find them both on the playmat playing with the v tech walker - complete with annoying sound. Rather him than me!
The feeding thing is really hard, I hate listening to her cry when I could stop itEven though I go in every minute, counting to 60 seems to take a age! But I'm convinced she doesn't need milk in the middle of the night so will stick with it as long as I can face it. Visiting a friend in Holland this weekend, so LO and I will be co-sleeping for 3 nights. She'll love it and I know we'll both sleep well - kind of nice that it's enforced upon us so I won't feel guilty!.. Hope you manage to drop a feed or two.

Oh ladies, had my first scary choking gagging type thing. In a bit of a crappy mood tonight, so had got the bourbons out. Reu was grabbing at them, as he does with any food, so I thought oh why not, he'll give it a lick, rub it on his face and lose interest. Nope, straight in the mouth, bit off a chunk, tried to swallow it whole.
Cue him gagging, then a high pitched noise as he tried to breathe, very pale face but red bulging eyes, all in a matter if about half a second, this was more than just gagging, he couldnt breathe. I grabbed him, was about to tip him over on my lap to whack him on the back, but I think the grabbing was enough motion as he promptly spewed all over me and himself. I've never seen him be sick so much, there was tons of it.
He was perfectly happy immediately, and while I was worried i am pleased i managed to stay calm, and i just reacted (ie picked him up to turn him over) and didn't freeze in panic or flap etc. Now that it was a few hours ago I feel much better about it...but no biscuits for reuben for some time I think!!0 -
I don't think it's teeth, he isn't gnawing, or drooling or anything like before when we had teeth cutting, plus he's never really gone off his grub with any of the other 6, not like this. I don't know if he's just going through a fussy phase or not. His bottles are pretty regimented tbh, 9am, 2pm and 7pm. He has 8oz at each feed, 3 meals a day and 2 snacks usually. Which tbh is enough. I don't want to encourage a bigger milk intake as he's lazy that way and I think he'd rather have more milk than food, but that's just not the way the world works I'm afraid, and I don't want to go back to 4 bottles and less food, as it's taken a lot of hard work to get to where we are. He's sleeping now so I will just have to offer dinner at the regular time, he didn't finish his lunch time bottle so maybe he'l be a bit hungrier at dinner and take something
CJ is refusing all her food at the moment too Gilly. Today out of 3 meals and 2 snacks, she had the grand sum of 3 spoons of fromage frais, and 10 macaroni tubes from macaroni bake. Yesterday all she had was about 8 blueberries and 2 raspberries, which she then threw up in bed at 11pm...(Purple milky puke anyone, mmmmm):rotfl: She will however have her milk feeds still, so having to offer her normal 4 plus extra's to keep her fluids and energy up too.
I think it is part feeling poorly, part a phase but mostly a teething thing, and this time she hasnt really been dribbly, or gnawing, but when she lets me see, her gums look sooo sore.:(Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Oh Turtle, that sounds really scary, but well done for staying calm and doing exactly what you're supposed to in that situation.
Gilly, that's great re food, hope he sleeps tonight.
I'm sure there's more I should have said, but too tired to think.
Night all x0 -
R.e the choking, the only thing A has ever choked on was a biscuit too...
I know Kira, thankfully he ate a load at dinner, I just have a feeling he's playing up. If I don't strap him in to the highchair and allow him to stand up in it (yes really  ! ) he'l eat as much as he wants to, bend down and pick a bit up stand back up again. At dinner time he was bobbing about all over the shop. But the minute I strap him in the food gets launched. Grrrr xThe frontier is never somewhere else. Hi ladies..
Back againreading all the teething/nighttime/eating issues are frightening the life out of me! Ellie is 7.5 months, no teeth, but teething monstrously every now and again to no avail.. She is pretty good with her food although she tends to get a bit overdramatic when I give her something with vague lumps.. And she sleeps from 7 til 7 with one wake up a night (has a 5oz bottle then back down).
I tried the letting her cry thing for 3 days Nutella. It got to the point that as I walked into the room she would go from making awake noises to screaming instantly because she knew I wasn't going to feed. I couldn't cope with the guilt and stress so I stopped & she has slowly weaned herself down to 1 feed which OH does before he comes to bed.
Sunshine, such a sweet story about spying on your little man. Nice that he is so sociable. Elliott's idea of being social is making GRRRRRRR noises as she batters peoples faceshmmm
Gave her those little eeny weeny pasta stars today for the first time with some homemade bolognese. She actually ate them!! *proud*
Had MIL/FIL here today as OH birthday tomorrow... Sometimes I wonder if FIL took a little too much acid in the 70's. Either that or early onset alzheimers. Over and over and over and over again the same sentences... I am exhausted just from saying 'Green' repeatedly...
Hope you all have a peaceful night.
Take care!!

Oh, turtle. Ellie's first choking experience was when she was 2.5 weeks old. I was bathing her in the bathroom sink and accidentally threw water up her face; it went up her nose and she breathed in... all hell let loose. She STOOD UP in the sink, on her own, completely rigid, desperately squeaking but unable to make any sound or breathe.
She's my first baby so cue total shock. I scooped her up, put her face first onto her towel and patted her back. She coughed it up and started breathing/crying... It took me 3.5 months to get her to let me wet her face in the bath again.Bad mumma.

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't stop night feeds on my own, he did that around 6/6.5 months. It's just a bit of a vicious circle, I fed him on Friday night, but he ate less on Saturday as a result, so then wanted fed in the night on Saturday if that makes sense?
The key to him not feeding at night here is making sure he takes enough food during the day, which he can and does do. I'd never purposefully with hold a feed but a lot of the time I do think it's comfort and when he's on 3 meals a day, and 3 x 8oz bottles and 2 snacks at 10 months old, that's loads  big portions too. Especially when that's between 9am and 7pm! lolThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Wow Gilly, that is a lot of food. I wish I could get madam to eat more during the day. Since starting to wean her from BF to formula she has started to drink more again, during the day. When you hear people saying their kids have slept through the night 7-7 from 9 weeks old you feel like you're doing something wrong but in reality I am content with the way things are going. Once a night is not a killer. I have a friend whose daughter goes to bed at 12:30am and is up at 6:30. Not good.
Sunshine, thanks. It was very scary but she is back to full confidence now & even enjoys having her face washed. Ah, the days when she used to fit in the sink...
I have to laugh at the in laws, or I'd cry hahaha!
