We didn't get regular sleeping through until 6 and a half months. Before that it was generally 1-2 wake ups a night. When we made a huge effort to get him to eat and drink more during the day, it helped his sleep at night. I'm also of the belief that sleep breeds sleep and when he has enough naps during the day he definitely has better nights. That's A though, I know not all babies are the same :o On the whole though he is an amazing sleeper so I think I just feel it hard when he doesn't if that makes sense?

  • I know what you mean. Ellie slept through from week 6 to week 14 & then started 3 wakes a night. I was a zombie!'

I'm also a sleep breeds sleep person; she has 2-3 naps per day! About 2 hours in all, up to 3.5 sometimes. Waking up at 7am sharp everyday kills me mind you. She used to sleep til 9.30 :)

    Morning all

Sunshine - that's so sweet about Aiden standing talking to the older babies with his friend, that must of made you feel so happy.

Off to Sainsbury's today to get a few bits for Noah. I managed to get him a couple of long sleeved bibs from Asda and they are fab. He tends to stick his fingers everywhere now so he stays clean at dinner time now!

  • Morning.

Glad you had a better night gilly, hope it continues!

So pleased Aiden is settling in at nursery sunshine, must be such a relief to have somewhere he's happy tobe.

Sammie we have 2 long sleeved bibs but its not enough, he gets COVERED! I let him feed himself one spoon of yoghurt yesterday and it was all over the place!

I think he's put him self off to sleep, he's not done that in the day for weeks :T.

At the moment we've regressed sleepwise really badly; naps are a major ordeal 30 mins of boob/sleepy/PLAY/sleepy/PLAY/boob until he finally drops off (on my bed) then in the evening its the same but he's not happy with me playing with him he wants daddy so now I just do our usual routine (feed, nightclothes, sleepsack, cuddle for 10 mins, bed) and then if he wont go down and starts playing up I just let me OH take over.
I remember a time when all I had to do was put him in his cot for him to fall asleep (nap and bed time). Now those pesky top teeth are through I think its time to start trying to get him in his own cot and then hopefully his own room.

  • Eeeekkkk at the biscuit turtle...glad things didn't get serious.

Have Niall sleeping in sling at moment but must get up and get some lunch as planning to go swimming in a couple of hours, just me not the little guy. It's my me time when mil looks after Niall.

My crazy husband this morning was trying to wade through water up to his thighs with his bike to get to work. He ended up back at home and took the car, I told him I'd rather have a husband that was alive than a car to drive. Mil is taking me swimming, I hate asking people for favours not sure why but must get over it.

Weaning sounds just as stressful as breastfeeding lol it doesn't sound simple.

    Gilly, yay for sleep! :j

Good night here too - LO slept from 6.30pm to 6.45am! :T I had to get up a couple of times to put the dummy back in, but she settled again immediately and didn't demand milk. Here's hoping it continues!

Just back from a big shopping trip - Sainsbury's, Boots etc. Found a fab pair of jeans for me - I went to M&S to look for a handbag for my mum for xmas and walked past the jeans, one caught my eye and it fitted perfectly. And a bargain at £19.50! I'd never have thought of looking in M&S for jeans.

By the way, random point which others might find useful: I found no-salt vegetable stock cubes in Boots (they also do chicken). I've got several recipes for LO that need no-salt stock cubes, but couldn't find any in places like Sainsbury's. Was going to check Holland & Barrett, but was pleased to discover them in Boots.

Laura, I think the thing about weaning is this: by the time your LO is 6 months, you have a reasonably good idea of their likes and dislikes, you have some sort of routine and most of the time they're fairly predictable in terms of feeding. Then you start weaning and you're back to square one, learning all those things all over again! But it's much more fun than milk :D
