  • Morning all !!

Aiden was up 4 times between 7 and 10 last night coughing :( in the end I called our friend who is a nurse, she said he may need an inhaler if it carries on and to keep pushing the doctor if he gets no better. Its so upsetting as he sounds like he is choking on something, poor little thing. Anyway, on the plus side after his 4 wakes he did 10-430 and then until just now. So not bad at all considering what he has been like. I think if it carries.on for another week or two I will go back and ask for a refferal.

Nutella, have fun with those lentils! I love trying them with new stuff :) cant waot to do him a little xmas dinner!!

House is being photographed today so hopefully Aiden sleeps this morn and I cwn whiz round with the hoover.

Elelyn, fabulous to hear that Theo's vision seems fine. But I really think your HV sounds odd :( What good does it possibly do any mother to be told that they're the reason their baby cries??

I also find her advice about feeding during the night a bit suspect (although I'm NOT an expert of course). I think babies should feed, and they sometimes need a bit of encouragement to do so. But it's very important that they do. I like this concept of dream feeding - basically they're not really awake but you feed them anyway. Their instinct to feed is so strong that they can do it in their sleep anyway - Freddie often 'suckles' when he's fast asleep - soooo cute to see his mouth moving!

I'm not sure how you're feeding Theo (it's probably easier on the boob) but how about when he's thrashing around a bit during the night, getting him out of his cot and feeding him? He probably is hungry, he's just not waking fully. But, TBH, half the time Freddie doesn't fully wake up when I feed him - he just moans a bit and I whack him straight on the booby. He certainly feeds happily for five or ten minutes then he's deeply asleep again.

Lots of babies feel soothed in the over the shoulder position. It's a classic, particularly if they're a bit windy. So if this works for Theo then carry on with it. It sounds like you're doing everything right, so try not to worry. Some babies simply find the world a more challenging place than others - it's just the luck of the draw which type you get!

It might also be worth trying to see if you can get a different HV. I think you need a bit more support, tbh.

Poor Aiden, hope he gets better soon.

We were up twice, tried to get him off with his dummy the first time. Worked for about 45 minutes and then he was awake again, and wouldn't take no for an answer!

Nutella what have you got on the menu today? I've got some bits to mush up too, doing banana & peach, peach apple & strawberry and potato leek & pea. See how these go down for a day or two then have a look at some meaty ones. Bit apprehensive as unless its butternut squash or sweet potato he's not very keen at all. I nicked a rusk out of the box I got for him yesterday, I'd forgotten how nice they are! He'll be lucky if gets very many of them ;)

Elelyn glad things are ok with the vision. It does get easier, but I think until you figure out where the problems are it's all a bit of a struggle. Scarlett is 8 weeks now and on her prescription formula and it's definitely helped. Unfortunately, it's just a trial and error process you have to try different things and see what helps.

Theo could be having his growth spurt now couldn't he? That could explain a few things. Re the smiling, have you tried standing in front of a full length mirror with him? Most babies love looking at themselves and that really helps Scarlett to focus and always makes her smile. I do think also that babies pick up on your upset. I remember one day when Scarlett cried all afternoon and so did I. OH came home took over and made me go for a bath and suddenly everything was better again.

Scarlett's breathing has got bad again in the last few days. She sounds so chesty and coughs then throws up her feed. I have had a cold which was mostly chesty so I'm wondering if she's got that. We have another dr's appointment next Thurs andif it's still bad we will be looking at a referral. She had her 1st set of jabs yesterday and was very good. Can't believe we are at that stage already!

I have started to wear my (very long) hair down, as since he was born i have been scraping it in to a low ponytail or bun, and it has been splitting a lot where the hairband is - its in terrible condition now so wearing it down to try to give it a break. Reuben is...well for want of a better word....delighted! He finds my hair hilarious! I only have to swoosh it about a bit and he's giggling his little head off! Peekaboo with it gets big belly laughs, and he loves to put his hand in it while he's feeding.

Now i just have to get him to stop grabbing and yanking it ;)

Noah is a nightmare for pulling my hair! I am considering getting it cut into a bob with a fringe but I haven't had it cut for ages and I'm scared the hairdresser will tell me off!! :o

I know what you mean katiechoc I feel like I'm constantly cleaning/washing
Even the dog makes a mess! I bought him some new balls yesterday and he has chewed them so I now have bits of rubber all over my floor!
I'll have a cup of tea before I face the mess today I think :D
