Thanks delain. I will think about seeing my GP.
  • Elelyn, fab news that his sight is ok. Hope you get some support if you do need it. Its so tough at first, I will admit hands down that I found it hard. I think everyone else would too.

Just got a right good bargain, a Vtech sit to stand dancing tower:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009UC1XY6/ref=asc_df_B009UC1XY610472012?smid=APY7QMSDI04EY&!!!!!googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B009UC1XY6

Was just £10 in my local Tesco! Have put it away for Xmas.

Also ordered a long sleeved sleeping bag from jojo maman bebe.

Just been out for a walk and its freezing! Aiden is all warm and toasty but my hands are like ice! It was nice and autumny though with all the leafs :)

hi ladies quick question, i think my baby has a cold, she was really stuffy breathing last night and has been a little bit more sicky then normal, do you think i should take her to the doctors to get checked out? shes better during the day, i think its because shes more upright at times and crying so it clears the mucus away, she also has stringy poo which ive read is a sign of a cold? other than that shes fine. Thanks

Poor little thing :( As a general rule, I'd say if you're worried go and see your GP, especially if she's also struggling with feeding, but for now there are a couple of things you could try tonight that might help her a little bit: try raising the head end of her cot/basket, either with a couple of books under the legs/stand, or put a towel under her head (under the sheet so it can't end up in her face). A bowl of boiling hot water in her room might also help, as dry air can make breathing harder.

You could also try saline drops from the chemist - it's just salty water that you squirt into their nose (ideally whilst they're asleep as it's a lot easier), it's suitable from birth and helped my LO. Along with a nasal aspirator to suck the mucus out, I think saline drops is the only 'remedy' that you can use before she's 3 months. And as you've already discovered, being kept upright can help, so if you have a sling, carrying her around in that might also help her breathe.

I don't know anything about the poo I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone else will!

I hope she gets better soon x

Toni_ nutella has said it all really, just thought I'd chime in with poo - my boy's poo goes really mucousy and gloopy when he had a cold - quite gross, very difficult to wipe as it's so sticky.....what lovely things you talk about when you are a mummy :rotfl:

Oh and sunshine yes what a bargain, well done!
  • Snot poo here too. Toni, my LO has had a cold/cough for what seems like ages now. I have been to the drs three times now, all they gave us was saline drops, but, it puts my mind at rest to know there is no infection etc. Everytime I leave the dr always says, if you are at all concerned then just come back and see us. So I do!

Nutellas advice is really good. My dr recommended steam today as it can break down the mucus. If you are worried though, just pop to see the dr.

Hope everyone is ok. Aiden has been in bed about an hour, I am preparing for another rough night with him. Also rushing round trying to clean as pics are being done tomorow for the house sale.

  • Eleyn -glad to hear hospital appt was fine.

Hang in there it will get easier, and seeing gp or nurse practitioner for a talk won't do any harm. Do you get any me time away from baby? A constantly crying baby is really hard to deal with. My lo had colic and it was hell until it eased with meds. He is now 3 months and growing out of it.

Immunisations and weigh in tomorrow. A little nervous, hope Niall as gained enough weight, it's been stressful with all the expressing.

Laura, will be crossing my fingers for jabs and weigh-in tomorrow. I guess this will be his second set of jabs? If so, my LO experienced no side effects apart from a small red mark on one of her thighs (I know others on here had the same thing, and it disappeared after a couple of days), so here's hoping you'll have no problems either.

Just written a looong shopping list for tomorrow - there are so many things I want to try making for my LO now that she can start eating more things than plain fruit and veg purees (sorry Turtle, it'll be your turn very soon!) :) Good thing I've found a few lentil recipes - I seem to have an enormous amount of them lurking in drawers and cupboards!

Good day here today - went to my postnatal exercise class in the morning and had a two-hour cuddly nap with LO in the afternoon :) Will be missing those naps when I go back to work :o

Off to bed in a minute - hope everyone gets some sleep x
