just a quick post about beakers - we have a tommee tippee one...blue with a flip up spout.
I found turning it into a game and showing him helped....I'd pick it up with both handles do a really exaggerated drink then when I put it down do a really loud "Ahhhhhhhhhh" like it was the first drink after a week in the desert.
Then helped him ahve a go.
Each time the beaker goes down he gets the ahhh noise...
now he drinks from it and has almost co-ordinated both hands when he lifts it.
He really like the ahh noise at the end.
I still have a small bottle filled with water for the day just in case I think he needs a little extra though.

Here you feel better soon seren. The bugs are everywhere at the moment!
Thanks for the idea re drinking game (that sounds wrong in this context!) we do a similar thing if he's reluctant to open his mouth for a spoon, pretend to eat it ourselves while making gobble/yummy noises. At worst it makes him laugh so we can get it in there when he's giggling. Most of the time he's so nosy and greedy he pretty much grabs the spoon and does it himself.

Noah went back to sleep after an hour last night, he is really tired now though and has been sleeping for 2 hours!! At least it gives me a chance to start packing.

Morning all
Not a great night here - LO was quite unsettled, think her tummy was hurting a bit as she's getting used to solids. She ended up sleeping in the big bed with me - as long as we kept cuddling her she wasn't crying - but she kept moving about all night in her sleep, so I didn't get much sleep and feel really tired this morning. I really can't complain though - she's normally such a good sleeper and only wakes twice for a feed. Last night she only woke at 4.30am for a feed (I think her little tummy was too full!), so technically it could have been a good night!...
On the subject of weaning, I have a poo question. She's not badly constipated, but she looks a bit bloated, her poo has been firmer since she started having solids once a day, and she went four days without a poo - the longest ever. I've realised she might need more water, so have started giving her more, but has anyone else experienced something similar? I know banana can cause constipation, so only tried her with that once, but are there any other fruits or veg that you've found to cause constipation - or that have helped them poo? She had pear yesterday to get some fibre, and did poo after that - may or may not have been a coincidence.
On a more positive note, I'm off to the hairdresser in a bit - can't wait, my hair looks terrible at the moment!
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Hope you get the packing sorted Sammie! And Noah wakes up happy.
George is asleep too, seems to have got in the habit of having a 2.5 hour nap in the morning! Good for me as I can get stuff done - bathroom cleaned, veg peeled and steaming, base for a chocolate shortbread baked and out to cool. Expect he'll be up soon so making the most of the peace for a sit down and cuppaNewborn thread member

Hi Nutella, I've read conflicting things about bananas - I was told they cause constipation but I've read online that they can ease it too?! Actually, just had a look and on Annabel Karmel's website she says banana puree is good for treatment of diarhoea and constipation - not sure how it can be good for both, or am I being dim?! I also read somewhere that apples and pears contain pectin which can 'slow things down'.
George is now going once every 2-3 days but he's not had any noticeable discomfort. And he has banana pretty much every morning as he loves it so much. When he does go its much firmer and MUCH stinkier.
I guess that doesn't help at all, just more contrary advice! Sorry!Newborn thread member

Ha I have a mile long to do list, and I get a ridiculous amount of satisfaction ticking something off it! Sometimes I'll do something then write it on the list just so I can cross it off again :rotfl::o
I also sat down and somehow managed to eat a whole bag of jelly babies that was meant to be part of my dad's birthday present. Bleurgh.Newborn thread member

Nutella, Aidens always been a 4 times a day boy. Nothing slows him down lol!!
He loves banana too and I notice no difference. Maybe once your LO is in the swing of weaning she will get her own poo pattern going? Or you could mention it when you next see your hv?
I am not much help either lol xxLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea
