The problem you may have is if soy works, they probably wont prescribe any other milk, due to cost. The milk we're on is £36 per 400g. So just be careful when you go to the peadatrician, go armed with the facts of what soy can do and be adament that you dont want her on it long term. x

Yeah that's what I was thinking. But I've read that even it's a protein intolerance the soy still contains that anyway. It's so hard isn't it. I just want her to be a happier baby and not be uncomfortable all the time. Poor little things!

Hey its me again, sorry i`ve not been on! Just dont get time :/

Hello Bellola, I`m on baby number 4 with a milk protein intolerance. DD1 was put onto soya formula at 8 months old and thrived after having been on the 9th centile for weight and horrendous ezcema on her face to the point it was green and infected. DD2 was put on it from birth, and actually now suffers from extremely bad BO :( she has had it from the age of 2, and we believe was caused by the Soya formula. It can cause infertility. And IMO if there is enough of a risk of that for it to have been documented then its too much of a risk to give it to my babies. We didnt find any of this out until DD2 was 2 years old. DD3 was on Nutramigen. And DS1 is now on SMA lactofree and it suits him fine. Obviously its up to you, but I personally would never ever put another one of my kids on Soya milk. SMA lactofree is no more expensive than the Aptamil. Also, as Gilly said, an Osteopath shouldnt be giving medical advice, especially where a 6 week old baby is concerned! One more thing, that chestiness you mentioned, it could be caused by the milk protein intolerance, but it could also be caused by reflux :/ Is it def the chest or could it be more the back of the throat/oesophagus?

Sorry to have butted in! Hope everyone is ok? xx

Bellola-fingers crossed the infasoy provides her with some relief,.even if its only temporary. Hope your HV can help too.

Dont think its bad dreams with Aiden, he has been coughing all day and upset with it. Bless him, he only just got rid of one cough and now has another.
When he coughs though it sounds like he is choking
..I think I may have to take him to the docs if this one lingers too as its not fair on him.

Hope everyone is well. Brought the braun thermometer that mozzy linked to. Seems good and saves me upsetting him with the under arm one.

We had success at breastfeeding group again today - he latched on and fed for around 10 minutes after I'd given him his bottle of expressed milk as he was too angry to latch straight away. I tried him again at home without the bottle and he latched and he fed for 15 minutes - decided to be brave and try him on the right side (he's never done it on this side) and he latched on despite me being a bit engorged, and fed for another 15 minutes. Trouble is, after I burped him, he was hungry again and my nipples were a bit sore, so Moon was home from work by then and fed him the bottle. He then threw up as he'd had too much milk! lol
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Yay for George!

Bellola maybe your babies problem is just colic.....Niall is breastfed and we had a terrible time with him remhis wind. For a few weeks he would take 2-3 hours to get to sleep, he would just be crying. The meds helped a bit as well as the fact that he is getting older. He is nearly 11 weeks and he woke early this morning crying with wind, I held his knees to his belly to give him relief and I kept it this way while he slept, very achy hand afterwards.
re formula there is also goats milk called something like nanny goat some babies who can't tolerate cows milk do ok on goats milk

Hope things get resolved for you soon.

Right off to bed to so last feed and get some shut eye.

No swearing - it didn't hurt this time at all compared to last week so I know the mastitis must be clearing. :)
