hey all, loving the cute baby pics :) congrats on your little one Ikkle, seems like you had a rough time but glad your both well :)

Need some advice, Maisie is 3 weeks tomorrow and breastfeeding has been going well apart from abit of mastitis and troubles latching her on properly at the start but i thought i'd finally cracked it but now Maisie will latch on the breast, start moaning and getting annoyed and come off again, then want to go back on. Its not at every feed and shes put on plenty of weight, she now weighs 8lb 12 and last monday she was 8lb 1 but its starting to make me abit sore again and i hate how frustrated she gets bless her, any ideas really appreciated as the HV was no use when i told her. Thanks x

Arrgh! I remember when Freddie did this. I *think* it's a bit of frustration, perhaps when they're having a growth spurt and the boob's not providing the milk quickly enough. 3 weeks is spot on for the first major growth spurt.

I know exactly how you feel - it really does make your nips sore when they pull and squirm, and keep coming off and going back on again. All I can say is it does calm down again. But, even now, Freddie will have feeds when he just won't settle. I can't really offer any advice I'm afraid; I never found a way to stop him doing it. Just got to grit your teeth and put up with it I think :(. It's all pretty normal.

Amara how are you doing? How has the solids / no solids argument been?

Amara, I'm getting obsessed with baby-led weaning. The more I read about it, the more it makes sense to me. That's what I shall tell anyone when they start banging on that Freddie needs to be on solids - smile sweetly and say we're doing baby-led weaning. BLW certainly won't start much before 6 months (and may even take much longer).
