What a cutie fluff! How old is he now?

I just posted this comp on the preg thread, to win a load of cosatto stuff, £3k of it! You have to be pregnant or enter on behalf of a preg friend - I've entered for a friend, if we did win I'm sure we could come to some arrangement...got my eye on one of their highchairs ;)

Monkey is currently rolling around on his mat, at least he's not moaning any more but I'm not sure rolling is the best thing given that he's just polished off his banana and porridge in record time. Muslins at the ready.

Niall is sleeping in bouncer yay! We are then off out to meet a friend for tea and cake.

He was easier to get to sleep last night, took about 50mins. What role do people's partners take in getting babies to bed? In the early days we took it in turns but sine dh went back to work after pat leave I have fallen into the pattern of the one that gets him to sleep. Dh usually falls asleep while I am doing Nialls last feed. I am worried that I will be the only one who knows how to get him to sleep. Dh is off most of next week so going to get him to help more.

Finally more or less not using nipple shield anyone, only the odd time when Niall is really grouchy and feeds loads do I use it.

I really hope he has put a good amount of weight on when he gets weighed tomorrow otherwise it's a referral to a paediatrician. I didn't expect to have so many problems with Niall putting enough weight on. I know he has grown as in 3-6 month clothes when he is only 9 and a half weeks,

Yum tea and cake! Can I come?!

Re bedtime - it's just me that does it as I tend to feed him to sleep, although he will go off if we put him down awake by bedtime he's normally so tired its a task keeping him awake long enough to fill his tummy! I want OH to start reading a bedtime story to him really, so evening routine would be tea (joint effort), play (either), bath (me), story (OH), feed (me), bed. It's hard though, when OH is shattered after work and only gets in as George is ready for his tea and more often than not in a tired grump.

Not sure that little essay makes much sense, it does in my head though!

Edited to add: yay for feeding without the shield!

    Hello ladies :)

Been a bit awol over the past few days - have finally managed to catch up with the thread. Stuck at home today waiting for an Argos delivery - stairgates and steamer. 7am - 8pm is SUCH a convenient timeslot  We're all set for weaning once the steamer arrives - carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash are ready and waiting in the fridge! Hoping to be able to do some cooking and mashing tonight, and then freeze a few portions - planning to give LO her first bit of food next week :)

    Hope everyone is well x

Elelyn - I know this is a bit late, but re. routines, what we did to stay sane during those unpredictable first few weeks was to introduce a 'morning' and 'bedtime' routine. The actual times varied wildly from day to day, depending on when LO decided that it was 'morning' or 'bedtime', but the activities were always the same. So in the morning we'd change napppy, open curtains, switch on lights, feed etc. In the evening we'd have a bath, dim the lights, put on clean sleepsuit, feed, cuddle, go to bed. As the weeks have gone by, we've stuck to this routine, but we've added on to it (e.g. we now get dressed in the morning - in the beginning it was sleepsuits 24/7, and we do a bit of baby massage after her evening bath etc.) and the times have gradually become more fixed. Bedtime is now between 6.30pm and 7.15pm, depending on how tired she is, and morning is between 7am and 8am.

Perhaps something similar might work for you - I certainly found that it gave me some resemblance of a routine in those early days x

Edited to add: I regularly had dinner at 1am in those early days - we had to shift our own perceptions of when things should happen to suit LO. When you're on maternity leave it doesn't really matter if dinner's at 7pm or at 1am (for a while, anyway!) - you can just shift all your other activities to suit until your LO starts to figure out when 'evening' and 'morning' should be.

Re. bedtime, I think I have the easiest baby in the world :o

Last feed between 6.30 and 7.15 then carry upstairs whether awake, dozy or fast asleep, pop in cot, downstairs for a biiiig glass of wine. Not a peep until he wakes up three hours later for his next feed.
