Hi Ladies,
Still having rubbish sleep here, so I've slept during the day with Poppy today and now I don't feel tired!
Sunshine I loved that picture of Aiden standing up, I don't know why but I really love the back of babies heads, I'm always stroking Poppy's for some reason! Also we use Metanium on Poppy's bum, we had it prescribed since we left the NICU so I've always continued using it and it clears up her red bum very quickly - it does stink though!
Turtle - hope you get your house situation sorted out soon!
Katie - Hope George sleeps well tonight, a good nights sleep is priceless!
Not sure if Emsbet is still reading but if you are, please come and join us when you can, we would love to see pictures and find out how you are doing! Also haven't seen Kira on here for ages, hope you're ok!
Night ladies - sleep well

Morning ladies
Hi JaninneI know what you mean about the back of thier heads, they are so soft!! His bum looks alot less red after the metanium so hopefully its cleared up by tonight.
Hope you got some sleep last night? I had a nap yesterday with Aiden too, my fault though as stayed up late the night before!! Dread to think of how I will stay awake at work if we have hsd a bad night!
I think Kira etc post on fb rather than here, Im not on fb though so not too sure. Would be nice to see how emsbet is getting on,need some tiny baby pics on here!
Well Aidens been up since 6, dont mind really as he slept well and only stirred at 4 for five mins.
Need to grab a shower whilst OH is still here xLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Had a night with a grizzly baby last night - don't know what's the matter with him at the moment - he's very unsettled - could it be another growth spurt? He's 20 days old today, and seemed to have a grown spurt around day 10-12. I tried to get him to latch on again last night as I thought he may respond better as he'd be more relaxed, but he punched my already tender nipple (sore from pumping constantly) with his poorly arm and it really hurt, so I gave up again and gave him his bottle before he got too frustrated. He was awake from then onwards all the way up to the next feed and was grizzling whilst I was pumping in here. He ended up having a feed only an hour after the previous one again as he was obviously hungry still. Going to go to the breastfeeding support group tomorrow afternoon, and hopefully the lady who knows about tongue ties etc will be there as I think he's got an upper lip tie. I was watching him sucking on his bottle last night and it looks like struggles to do that too as his lip seems to tuck under rather than coming up over the top of the teat. Is that normal? He also makes a lot of clicking sounds when he sucks.
sm, these are classic sounds of a tongue tie. Freddie has an upper tie and his lip doesn't pull back at the top. However, this doesn't cause problems with feeding (although it can cause a gap between the top front teeth). AFAIK though, you don't get an upper one without a lower one, so the fact that you think he's got one at the top means it's likely he's got one at the bottom.
The clicking sounds too are really, really indicative of tongue tie because the tongue is slapping against the teat/nipple rather than rippling properly.
Get him checked by an expert. They're not always easy to spot - I had two midwives and the paediatrician all tell me that F was fine. He wasn't (although he is now of course)."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Might have an early night, am shattered. Night ladies x
You posted this at 10 o'clock. That's not my idea of an early night! My early night is when Freddie goes to bed at half past seven"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Morning ladies. Glad Aiden slept well sunshine, hope his red bottom clears up quickly.
Sammie, fingers crossed your pram gets delivered today!
I've got a little monkey on my hands today - slept pretty well but this morning he won't be put down at all, just moans until I pick him up, at which point he grins and blows bubbles. Little monster! Oh has gone off to work with the buggy in the car too so I'm a bit stranded, chunky man is too heavy for me to carry far in the carrier now.Newborn thread member

F slept really well. In fact he almost went four hours between feeds. I woke up at 2am with a hyper-inflated right boob but he was still sleeping peacefully. Although it took me a while to establish he was indeed asleep and not dead - in the end I got so frantic that he didn't appear to be moving, I grabbed his arm and rotated it vigorously. That made him move
On a less neurotic (and violent) note I think I'll get him weighed today. I best warn them beforehand that he might break the scales. Porky pig."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
