I feel like a naughty mummy.....I havent had Reuben weighed in a month...and today ive decided I'm not going to either....I'm sick of the health visitor's attitudes, because he goes as low as 7th centile sometimes and I get tutted at etc. But he's meeting all his milestones, is alert and happy, gives me plenty of wet and dirty nappies, grows out of his clothes etc so I've decided I dont care what he weighs so I'm not taking him until he's 5 months, and it will have been 2 month by then. Still feel like I'm doing something naughty and they're going to catch me and tell me off!!!

Yuk got caught in the rain again!! :(

Turtlemoose - I wouldn't worry about not getting him weighed if you don't want to, you can always weigh him at home like Gilly does.

I think Noah is getting lazy with his eating as he won't eat anything lumpy, I'm going to try him on some toast again this evening but he won't even hold anything for himself. :( I think he would be quite happy to be spoon fed pureed food forever!!

I think the hvs get too caught up on their graphs and lines, doubt there's any baby that conveniently follows the curve like they go on about. I wouldn't worry turtle, like you said he's alert and happy and has wet and dirty nappies...sounds ok to me :)

  • Speaking of weight, Niall got weighed today and has dropped 2centiles so should be referred to a paediatrician for a check over but health visitor is holding off for the moment. They have asked me to go to the breast feeding clinic at the hospital for advice. I think what hasn't helped as I was advised to stretch out feeding time to no less than 2 hours 10mns I didn't feel that comfortable doing it but the advice was from a professional. I still fed on demand from 7pm onwards as I know he cluster feeds.

So back to on demand feeding which can sometimes be only 90 mins between feeds. I think they might suggest a top up of expressed milk which I am cool with, I don't want to be adding in any formula:o

Niall had first lot of immunisations today and it went ok, he has slept a bit longer today though.

Hi everyone, I thought it was about time I joined this thread instead of lurking! My little boy jack is 5 weeks today. I think we're slowly starting to get the hang of things but its not easy and things like this thread definitely help.

I don't think you ever really realise how much everything will change- yesterday I went to the shop without make up and didn't even realise. There is no way that would have happened 5 weeks ago! :D

    Hi Maddie!!

    Congrats and welcome!!
I know, priorities 5 weeks ago are no more lol x

Gosh jedi we've suffered from conflicting advice here too, but never spacing out feeds - that's one thing I've been told not to do - just feed on demand, however demanding that may be lol!

New mum at our group today who I got on with quite well....fingers crossed she comes next week, as the others are ok but I wouldn't want to meet them outside of group, whereas I could imagine that with this woman.

Hope all have had a good day, it's been rainy and pants here :(

Freddie had his second lot of jabs today - much better than the first lot (mummy managed not to cry :D;)). He shrieked when she stuck the needle in then starting grinning two seconds later. :)
