Maddie, Carrie and KatyLiz - congratulations and welcome!

Re. makeup - not only do I regularly go to places like the supermarket without makeup now, I even went to the office without any!!! I took LO to meet my colleagues a few weeks ago, and just couldn't be bothered... There's absolutely no way I would have done that before. Everyone told me I looked well, so either they didn't notice, or they were just being polite :o

Carrie, the only other thing you can use at that age is saline drops - it's just salty water that you squirt into their nose (preferably when they're asleep as it's a lot easier!). My LO was born by c-section and had a blocked nose on and off for the first couple of weeks of her life (very common in c-section babies) and saline drops really helped. They're something like £1.70 from the chemist, so if it doesn't work for you you won't have lost much. Raising her head a bit when she sleeps should also help - just put a folded towel under her sheet, or a couple of books under the legs at the head end of her cot if she's in one. A bowl of boiling hot water on the floor near her bed might also help, especially if the heating's on, as really dry air can make a blocked nose worse. If it gets really bad and she struggles to sleep, try putting her in a sling for naps if you have one so that she's not horizontal. Hope it clears up soon x

Oh that's wonderful - lots of great natural tips. She's managed to fall asleep at the moment so I'll put the books under the moses basket stand now. Poor DH is going to get very acquainted with the local Boots staff, will send him off for the saline solution!

    Thank you :-)

    Lots of new mummies :T

How did the baking go sammie? Can't beat home made cake in my opinion :p

Nutella is it your LOs 5 month birthday today?

I've got a load of fruit and veg to peel next, bought the annabel karmel glorified ice cube tray this morning (on cheap at sainsburys) so want to get it filled up and frozen this afternoon. I'm seriously obsessed with weaning, spent ages in the baby food aisle just looking earlier. Not even planning on giving him jars yet but all the different concoctions you can get are fascinating! Especially the Heinz choccie pud for 49p. Tempted to get that for after my dinner, never mind for the monster!

It is - well remembered :D

Glad you're enjoying weaning - hope George is too! What fruit and veg did you get? Looking at the jars is a good idea, then go home and make your own :money: Although you might need to buy that choccie pud - surely you wouldn't give George something you haven't tested yourself?!... ;) I ordered the glorified ice cube tray (such a fab description!) yesterday - I've seen some reviews saying it's difficult to get the food out once frozen, so fingers crossed we'll be OK.

Yay 5months! And yay me for remembering :rotfl: seriously, I forgot how old I was the other day!

I got butternut squash, carrots and apples, and we already had sweet potato in the fridge. Enough mush to last for a while I think! George seems to enjoy it, pulls a face with the new things but still opens his mouth for more! Tonight I'm going to put a tablecloth down and just let him play with it as he's always trying to get his hands in the bowl. Going to be messy!!!!!
