Morning, welcome and congratulations to katyliz and maddie_s!

Just a quick pop in for now, dashing off to the supermarket so I can be home before he's sleepy in the car - need him to sleep when we get home so I can get stuff done!

Ps Maddie - re makeup, the other day I consciously went out without any make up on! I thought things like that were supposed to get better as the babies got older, not worse?! (He's 5 months now :o)

Hello :) all these new babies make me feel so broody!!

Hope your ds has a lovely bday. I would make the cake today. My dad is an amazing cake maker and always does a day in advance, what were you thinking of making? Id say as long as it isnt too dry you are good to go.

Were going into town as soon as Aiden wakes up. Typical its raining though!

Ha ha!! I'm hoping to spend the rest of my fertile years popping babies out then I will have to stay on this thread forever!!

I was thinking a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate butter cream in the middle and on top with sprinkles. That's about my limit in the kitchen anyway!! No one seems to like the icing on the shop bought cakes so I think ds1 would enjoy a chocolate cake much more.
I will make the cake tonight then I think, when the kids are in bed. Thanks sunshine.
It's raining here too!!! This wether makes me feel all grumpy and tired!!

Hi everyone, I thought it was about time I joined this thread instead of lurking! My little boy jack is 5 weeks today. I think we're slowly starting to get the hang of things but its not easy and things like this thread definitely help.

I don't think you ever really realise how much everything will change- yesterday I went to the shop without make up and didn't even realise. There is no way that would have happened 5 weeks ago! :D

Hi Maddie, my little boy was 5 weeks old on Tuesday. I agree entirely about how much everything changes. No matter how prepared you think you are you really aren't!

Today is the first day me and the little man are on our own all day as his Daddy has gone back to work after an extended period of leave. I'm a bit nervous about having to do everything by myself but I think it will do me good to see that I can do it.

One thing I wanted to ask. The last few nights LO has been been constantly making noises and flailing around in his sleep. He grunts, groans, yelps and makes all manner of sounds. It's keeping me awake when I should be sleeping and I keep checking on him, thinking he is waking up to find that he is actually still asleep. Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering if it is just a passing phase or if it is related to his colic?
  • elelyn - My LO always sounded like he was dying a thousand deaths then when I looked he was fine and snoozing away quite soundly....think most babies are just noisy sleepers

Elelyn - my little one is a really noisy sleeper. She snorts, grunts, makes strange animal like noises and hiccups in her sleep. It doesn't unsettle her though.

Hope your son has a lovely birthday Sammie. My 6 year old requested a homemade chocolate cake for his last birthday. He said that shop bought cakes look a lot better, but they taste horrible!

Eliza is my third child, and we can't afford any more. If money wasn't an issue though I'd keep popping them out :D

  • Elelyn, mine is actually the same! I'm getting used to it but my other half isn't and he's constantly checking and panicking! I was really nervous about being on my own but apart from everything taking twice as long, and not getting breakfast until he naps at 11am, it's been going okay so far.

Noah has just gone down for a nap so I can get on with some cleaning.
    How is Aiden's cough now?

Morning all (only just!). sunshine we are joining you in the joys of having a baby with a cough. I was up so many times last night I lost count after the fifth time. I feel so sorry for my poor little guy, he looks so confused when he coughs, wish I could explain to him what's going on, or better still I'll have it for him! :o
We've both just slept from 8:30 til now so I feel like I can just about function but I will certainly not be doing any housework etc today! it'll take all my effort just to get us both dressed lol!

Hi everyone, I had my little girl Lara a week and a half ago, and loved the pregnancy forum for advice so hope I can join you all now she's here.

Only read back a page but my little one is a very noisy sleeper and I'm really struggling to get any sleep and that's with me and DH taking it in turns for feeds.

We took her out to the shops for the first time yesterday (only to open a bank account for her) and now she has a cold! Any advice would be welcome! I've just sent DH out to buy a nasal aspirator to clear some of her blocked nose but not sure if there's anything else she's allowed as she's so little.
