Can you let me know which steriliser you have and if you like it please? I really can't decide on bottles or sterilisers or anything.
I am planning to breast feed if possible but want to have a back up plan and may express too.
We do have a microwave but are electric better? Which bottles to get ?
I thought picking a pram would be the most difficult but the steriliser is coming a close second!
Thanks in advance ladies
Hello, nice to see you over here!My LO has been entirely bottle fed since the age of 3 weeks, so we use our steriliser a lot. We have an electric Tommee Tippee one (in fact we have two, as one lives at my parents') and really like it. It's quick and easy to use, sterilises six bottles and a pile of dummies in less than 5 mins and is easy to descale (Boots own brand descaler is recommended). If you were to buy one, there are two options - one is £70-ish and one is £35-ish. With the more expensive one you get two insulated bottles bags (which you can buy separately), a couple of extra bottles and an electric bottle warmer, which you really don't need as it's quicker and easier to use boiled water from the kettle to warm bottles. The actual steriliser is exactly the same, so I would go for the cheaper option and just buy some extra bottles if you need them - works out much cheaper.
I did some expressing during the first couple of weeks, and used a Tommee Tippee electric pump, which I thought was fine. Whichever brand you go for, you may want to consider getting the same brand pump and steriliser to be sure the bottles will fit - or at least check that they're compatible if they're different brands x0 -

moneypenny21 wrote: »Thanks folks for the few suggestions. Gilly- were you referring to going through bottles or sterilisers? Does the MAM or Tommee Tippee sterilisers fit other types of bottles in them? Sorry to sound like an idiot!
Sorrythe bottles, I used a TT steriliser, but once I started using the MAM bottles I packed my steriliser away as they self sterilise in the microwave, brilliant if you have limited worktop space. You can get a MAM microwave steriliser too. I wouldn't buy any other bottles now though and I haven't heard anyone ever moan about them. They're anti colic, and help prevent wind. They are fab bottles and they do fit in the TT Steriliser if you wanted to use one xx

Oh no!Hope they re-stock soon - otherwise if they're available for home delivery you could maybe consider that? I know they charge for postage, but would still work out cheaper than anywhere else and if you go through Quidco at least you'd get some caskback?...

It definitely would, if MAM fit in TT, TT would fit in MAM as the MAM are a good bit bigger.
But if you're gonna use TT bottles I'd just get the steriliser to match. Sterilisers all do the same thing, bottles are the thing to focus on I'd say.
Out of all the types we tried I'd grade them in order of 1 - MAM, 2 - Dr Brown, 3 - Avent, 4 - Tommee Tippee.
We had full sets of them all and used them all for at least 10-14 days. Don't even ask.... :rotfl:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
TT are good for giving water when they get older
I kept 2 for that. I sold all of my excess bottles on
Yes you need a bottle brush. I use Asdas Little Angels, it's been the hardest wearing for usthink it was around £3 x
Edit: if you are planning on switching between bottle and breast, MAM would be a good choice, the teat of the MAM are nothing like the others, they are flat, like the nipple goes once in babies mouthThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
