Jedi stress is an inhibitor to good milk supply, so while I know it's hard, please try not to worry about it. Remember that he's ok at the moment, if he was at any immediate risk then the HV would have intervened. You just need a little help, that's all.

I'm sure you have read lots, but here is a page i found on shields/ weaning off them

    http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/child/wean-shield/

My baby was too ill to bf for 2 weeks, and then didn't have his tongue tie snipped until a week after that....so I really had to actively teach him how to feed. I have never used shields myself so can't be specific about them, but the tips about pumping for a few mins first so your baby gets a quicker let down, plus your nipple is elongated - they sound good and similar things helped my boy to learn.

Was it you I was talking to on fb? Just in case it wasn't, don't forget you can take supplements to increase supply. Fenugreek is supposed to help, as are malted drinks. You can drink Guinness, or if you would prefer non alcoholic there are some available.

I'm off to find a link to the malty drinks and will edit this post with them when I find them.

Right malty drinks....taste vile but worth it for what it does! I drank a bottle a day when pumping away from Reu.

The 6 pack of bottles is only £3 in asda and tesco at the mo.

I don't dare look, I can't resist Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuff!

Got Poppy some goregous Minnie Mouse pink Cord trousers from Asda today, I get sucked in to the baby clothes section on every visit! Before Poppy came along I use to go straight to the ladies section, now I can't remember the last time I looked at stuff for me!

I do that! Every shopping trip ends with Aiden having a new something or other!

I never look for myself either lol...xx

Just to add to Turtle's excellent advice about milk supply. My supply starting to slow after expressing for a few weeks and my Doctor prescribed medication which really kick started my supply again. I'm not sure if this would be available to all women as I was expressing for 14 weeks when Poppy was in the NICU. If you are getting stressed about expressing and your milk supply it might be worth a chat with your GP, mine was really understanding.

  • Good evening all,
Trying to catch up on my skyplus for the week, just watching Great British Bake off. Trouble is it always makes me want cake!
Jedi, i know its easier said than done but please dont worry, D dropped from 25th to 9th percentile one week. I wasnt worried as you only have to look at her to see shes ok, until the the HV said "I'm not worried but..." she said i should bring her back within 2 weeks for her to be weighed and stressed no more than 2 weeks. For 2 weeks i panicked and worried and it was probably all i talked about! When we went back she had gone almost back up and the HV said, i knew it would be ok! Well she prob could have conveyed that a bit better to me!! I must admit during that time i started to combination feed much more than the odd bottle of formula which she had had before. Sorry for the ramble, what I'm trying to say is, try not to worry it will be fine, honestly
    xx

    Evening all

Jannine - :rotfl: at the singing incident!!

Had a busy day here today, first we had someone round to fix our central heating as it needed power flushing etc then had someone round to look at our driveway and front garden as we have decided to dig it all up and pea shingle it to make more space for parking.

Got Noah weighed today abd he is exactly 17lb. He was six months yesterday, can't believe it's gone so quick. :o

    Xx
