Hi everyone
Does anyone know were I can get plastic backed bibs from I've searched everywhere and can't find any!! Niamh is teething and with her having 3 solid meals a day now I need ones that won't ruin her clothes!!
debenhams have some great ones, they have slogans like feed me feed me feed me and locally produced, some other funny ones, but they are great as the actual bib area is quite large. will see if i can find them online.
these are what i have but they do others

welcome crab apple and congrats.x
doglover samuel has not long finished a bad cough and cold. we gave him calpol to ease temp, cough medicine but we used a simple linctus to ease the throat rather than an exporant as this helps bring the cough/flem out and it would of made samuel struggle more i believe.
get the bathroom nice and steamy and sit in there with baby. if has a cold as well i used the nasal spray and the nasal pump thing to clear snot. snuggle babe/baby olbas
i also slpt on the sofa with him for a week so he could sleep up right to ease the coughing/choking but you have to be careful if they have a tempreture not to overheat them.
sorry its early if i can think of anything else will add it
samul is dropping off so back to bed for me

WW could you get the sister you trust to have LO for a couple of hours in the day so you can have a sleep bath etc.
I would but she has her own baby and has had PND too so I wouldn't want to put any extra on her. OH sent me to bed yesterday afternoon, but I just can't sleep. I think it is the anxiety/PND. I lie there with thoughts rushing around my head and then I'll start to drop off to sleep and suddenly think something like - I must remember to put the red book in LO's bag for the baby clinic on Thurs, even though it is only Monday!!Then I won't be able to sleep for thinking about thisalison2020 wrote: »Wonderwomble try getting a bit more milk into LO during the day so she goes longer at night between feeds. Maybe try getting an extra oz into her at each feed so she is less hungry at night? Especially as at 6 weeks they often hit a growth spurt.
Swimming sounds great! I think most babies love the water as long as they are warm enough. I really enjoy my weekly baby swimming lessons and they give me more confidence holding D in the water too.
We just talked last night about increasing her feeds during the day. LO isn't waking up to feed, she is waking as she has either mucus or reflux in the back of her throat. So we get up with her to hold her upright and she will wake and take 2ozs, but I think she wouldn't wake as often if it wasn't for the reflux/mucus.WW your LO really still is tiny and sounds like she's doing really well. To begin with (and for quite a while!) DH and I took it turns to have LO for a night while the other slept in the spare room. I used to find it easier to have him downstairs and DH found it quietest in the spare room so for weeks our bedroom was often empty! Sounds a bit sad that DH and I didn't share a bed but we found getting some unbroken sleep far more appealing! Could you try that? If your relationship is strong, which it sounds as though it is, it really won't affect things. The early days are all about getting through them the best way to suit you. Now our LO is in his own room (went in at 3 months) and DH and I are sharing our bed again. It's all worked out and it will for you.
That sounds like us, we don't actually spend much time in bed at the same time at the mo
Thanks Chuck, I will look at those snuggle nests. I've ordered a sleeping bag from Kiddicare for LO, but most say from 8lb 8ozs and LO isn't there yet.
Jen, our LO will be going in her own room as soon as we have sorted out the mucus/reflux problem.
Congrats Crabapple :j
How long does this bleeding after pregnancy go on for? LO will be 6 weeks on Wednesday and I am still bleeding, it seems to tail off and I think it is the end of it, and then it starts again0 -
WW put a notebook by the bed to write down anything that plays on your mind. I am like that before I go on holiday. As for the bleeding Ellie is 3 weeks and mine seems to have stopped so I guess it is different for everyone.
Congratullations crab get some rest. Have you given her a name:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

Hi everyone, can i join please? I was on the pregnancy thread on and off.
Isabella Megan was born 14/12/11 6lb 9oz. She is my first baby
I have found it difficult this first month as i had quite a traumatic birth experience. She was delivered fine in a maternity led unit and everything was great until i failed to deliver the placenta, cue emergency transfer to Belfast and into Th for a manual removal. It was not the best and i didnt get to hold Isabella until after i came out of Th about 7 hours after she was born. I think that affected our bonding and feeding as BF was a real struggle to establish. Still on a positive note OH has a really good bond with her and we have finally established BF :j
I have read back, cant remember everything...
I am also attempting to follow the Baby Whisper EASY thing. Its very loose at the moment but i find it helpful for attempting to work out her different cries. Im finding it difficult to settle her for her daytime naps, nighttime is easier as she is very sleepy after feeding. Im on the verge of cracking out the dummy...
Someone was asking about monitors...as this is our first baby i have found that there are too many options to choose from when buying cots, mobiles etc. So i have tended to see what products have won or came second in the Mother and Baby awards. I figured that these were voted for by mums and generally have really good reviews. The monitor im looking to buy is the BT 250, it has all the features i wanted, nightlight, temp, tunes etc, and is down to £50 from £70 at the moment
Someone mentioned that they were not finding mat leave as expected, me too. Im struggling to find groups to join, i did go to a BF support group last week which was good. im also not confident about feeding out and about because i need a million cushions to get comfy! I confess that at times i have found myself wanting to go back to work, sounds bad i know.
Isabella is having her morning nap (touching wood as i write this!) so im going to try and have a bath, need to be presentable as HV is coming today and im in die need of a hair wash.
Big hugs to all that need them, hope you all have a good day with your LOs
Em xx

Welcome to Emily and crabapple.
Jen DS1 went into his own room at 6 months and I worried myself sick lol! DS2 was evicted when he was about 2 months old as he was such a noisy sleeper. Jacob will be in our room for 6 months I think because he's in a crib and has lots of room still plus his room is DS2's at the moment. We are moving DS2 into DS1's room but we need to buy bunkbeds and have a sort out and haven't got the time or the inclination right now!!
Went out for school run at 8.30 and blimey it's cold out there!! Am very jealous of you first time mummies staying in and not having to venture out lol!!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
Emily926' I've got that BT baby monitor and it's excellent. Both parent and baby unit plug into the mains as well so no worries about batteries running low. I bought mine for same reason you did re the baby awards
Ben is doing ok, DH went back to sea on Friday and his mum is staying with me for a week or two until I feel I can cope on my own as my section wound is still yucky!
I'm in a sorta routine with Ben but its more his routine than mine which I'm slowly working on changing. He goes 4 hours between feeds for a few days n then back to feeding 3 hourlybut that seems to coincide with his mini growth spurts.
I don't want to put him in his room but I'm going to have to in the next month or so as he is very quickly outgrowing his Moses basket and there is no room in my room for his cot.
Right gotta go feed the chunky monkey0
