  • Doglover had another cracking night sleep. 9pm til 8am, except for an hour when DS woke with his chesty cough. He just couldn't stop coughing long enough to get back to sleep so I eventually lifted him. Then I thought I would just feed him, and he took 7oz! Then conked out til 8am. Cant believe how much better i feel with uninterrupted sleep!! Make far less mistakes and less likely to do silly things like make the coffee with cold water and so on.
Wonderwomble It does get better! I've had 4 months of very bad sleep. Feel like I've turned a corner now (fingers crossed). Just persevere and remember as they get older everything gets easier for them! And you!

Morning all! My LO is taking his morning nap right now so thought I would come on and say hi.

Sorry about all of you who are suffering through reflux and other ailments with their LO's, you girls are my heros! I don't know how I would cope with that, it sounds so stressful so please give yourselves a pat on the back from me, as you are doing great in my opinion!

Hubby does the night feeds at the weekend, so not really sure how Nate slept last night as hubby is still sleeping, I feel good though for getting a good nights sleep, bless my hubby for that! Next week will be hard I think because I am back on night feeds from tonight and hubby is back at work for the first time, plus he has to get a bus, so no idea when he will be home from work. I'm looking forward to my freedom again though now that I can drive (had a c-sec).

KM that doesn't fill me with much hope on the weaning front :-(. Oh well, keep plodding on and we'll get there. What meds did he have?

Alison YAY!! fab news! Just remember to keep the spare batteries and screwdriver to hand!

My LO is having a mega nap day. Gearing up for another rice attempt at 2.30 ish.

Hugs Wonder Womble. I hope you manage to get a GP appt tomorrow. If your DH is willing to get up in the night, can you alternate the night get ups? ie tonight he gets up everytime so that you can have a full nights sleep. Then swop ever the next night etc. There isn't much point in both of you not getting any sleep. Not that I did this mind as I could probably count on one hand the number of times my DH got up in the night lol.

Doglover - How is DS getting on with the rice? DD hated it here, but loved it when I started mixing pear with it, and went crackers when I added peach to it!

I'm another one for groups. They really do help as a change of scenery for LOs and also to give mummy some adult chat - even if it is mostly about babies! Even if you didn't want to go to a group - a walk in the fresh air does wonders. We have a dog, so DD and I have done the morning walk with him practically every day since she was born.

Sammy do you know where they got the musical mobile from?

    Hi Laura :)

It was from John Lewis. I will see if I can find it on their website but they don't seem to have half of the baby stuff online that they do in store. If I can find a link I will post it x

WW really sorry you're struggling. I don't suppose there's anyone who'd take your LO for a night so you and DH can have an eve together and full sleep? Get asking anyone you'd trust.

    How old is LO now?

LO will be 6 weeks on Wednesday!! My mam has offered to have her for a night, or anytime I need a break, but she has been poorly with pneumonia since Christmas and is still not fully mended :( Both my sisters have their own kids and the sister I would trust to have LO suffers with her own sleep issues so I wouldn't ask her. When my mam is better she will be able to have LO stay over.

Thanks, that's what I keep telling myself :D

Thanks Sammy, OH gets up with LO at 11pm and 2am to feed her, I do the 5am feed. Problem is her squeaking and grunting keeps me awake when she is in our room, the only real sleep I get is when OH takes her downstairs to feed.

Thanks Jen, I have registered at our local children's centre last week and been trawling netmums for local groups.

We have been to the local swimming pool with LO today :D She cried for about five seconds when OH first took her in the water, but then completely relaxed, although she kept a very firm grip on OH's chest hair :rotfl: We were only in the water 10 mins, it took longer to get changed, but I was really pleased with how chilled she was in the pool. We got some lovely photos. Hopefully we will take her at least once a week as I want her to be confident in the water, unlike me.

WW could you get the sister you trust to have LO for a couple of hours in the day so you can have a sleep bath etc.

  • Wonderwomble try getting a bit more milk into LO during the day so she goes longer at night between feeds. Maybe try getting an extra oz into her at each feed so she is less hungry at night? Especially as at 6 weeks they often hit a growth spurt.
Swimming sounds great! I think most babies love the water as long as they are warm enough. I really enjoy my weekly baby swimming lessons and they give me more confidence holding D in the water too.

Sammy my LO seems to be enjoying (mad baby!). He especially likes being given the spoon at the end which he tries to put in his mouth once then smears it across his head and face! He finds it very funny :-).

Touch wood so far the only thing I've noticed is that he briefly got a little more windy but that seems to have settled down. Famous last words! We've just started giving it once a day now instead of every other day so it may bring the wind back. Hope not.

    Thanks for asking.

WW your LO really still is tiny and sounds like she's doing really well. To begin with (and for quite a while!) DH and I took it turns to have LO for a night while the other slept in the spare room. I used to find it easier to have him downstairs and DH found it quietest in the spare room so for weeks our bedroom was often empty! Sounds a bit sad that DH and I didn't share a bed but we found getting some unbroken sleep far more appealing! Could you try that? If your relationship is strong, which it sounds as though it is, it really won't affect things. The early days are all about getting through them the best way to suit you. Now our LO is in his own room (went in at 3 months) and DH and I are sharing our bed again. It's all worked out and it will for you.

Well....don't fall off your seats....I'm painting my nails! Haven't even had a chance to think about it, let alone do it since I was pregnant :-). It feels so nice being able to do something for myself. My god I'm sad! Next thing you know I'll be getting dressed before 8.30!
