How long does this bleeding after pregnancy go on for? LO will be 6 weeks on Wednesday and I am still bleeding, it seems to tail off and I think it is the end of it, and then it starts again :(

My LO is 6 weeks today and it only just seems to be slowing recently, I will let you know if it starts up again though, but if you are worried I would check with your doctor or HV. There is a lady at my class today who has been bleeding for 12 weeks, she is breastfeeding, I also heard that breastfeeding prolongs the bleeding.

Ellie has had a day of firsts today. first bottle :-( and first feed with nipple shields :-(

Try not to lose hope jenjade. Isabella couldn't latch on when my milk came in and we had to give her a bottle as she was so dehydrated and started to use nipple shields. She was a week old. We have since weaned her off the nipple shields and she no longer has any bottle top ups. It was tough but we got there in the end x

Am considering a new topic called "you know u are a new mum when....".
My first entries are for today...

it doesn't occur to you that in desperation you took baby for a pram walk in your pj's until several hours after you return....

that you are so in need of sleep that you find yourself trying to decide whether to go to do that v urgent loo visit you can feel imminent, OR let the baby sleep where she is on you for however many precious minutes it will give you..

You open the door to a stranger, who turns up unannounced, and within moments have taken them to your room to show your lady bits and discuss the obs and outs of poo.....

Hi just popping on to offer a bit advice, when my baby was tiny I noticed that I struggled to get him down for his day time naps but he was no bother at night time, till I realized that it was the Moses basket that was the problem .I put him in it during the day in the living room so he was close to me for settling changing etc,but put him into his cot at night (from 5 weeks,in our room) as soon as I started putting him in cot during the day it was much easier.he used to wake himself up all the time rustling away in Moses basket, lol
Don't know if it's worth mentioning but we followed the contented little baby routine, not exactly to the letter but very close, still follow it now, bubs has slept thru from 6 weeks old(still had a dream feed at 10pm) but slept from 7-7.30, we dropped the dream feed around 5 months with no bother.we also gave him dummy to start with as he was windy and wanted to suck all the time.we fazed out the dummy around 4 months (followed advice in the contented little baby) he was totally fine without it,he's now nearly 7 months and not bothered by wind or missing his dummy.this has turned into a novel, but basically wanted to stress what everyone says IT DOES GET BETTER!

Slings, someone was asking about them :-) we have the moby sling which is basically a long bit of fabric. Have found it really good after getting used to tying it up and has been easy on my back. Have just now bought an ergo baby carrier now that jacob is a bit bigger. Most mums i know who use slings have a couple.

How many mums here are doing baby led weaning? We are finding it nice and easy going :-)

I would definately try to get to the BF group if you can. I went to one for the first time last week as I was also full of doubts. Isabella was only feeding for between 5-10 mins at a time and I was convinced she wasnt getting enough or my position was uncomfortable for her. Speaking to the other mums there really helped as some of them said that their little ones only fed for 5 mins. There was also another mum who was struggling and it was nice to know i wasnt the only one. I would stick LO in her winter suit over her pjs and drop OH off, if she wants feeding she wont have to wait long as his work is so close. i also fed Isabella at the BF group my first time feeding out of the house, it gave me some much needed confidence. :)

I was also dreading OH going back to work, he went back last week and it was hard, I didnt realise how much he did. Still today has been much better as i seem to have found a rough routine following EASY. I feed her, change her, put her on her playmat and then when she starts fussing put her down for a nap. Then I have 1-2 hrs (sometimes!) when i have a brew, a snack and maybe do some chores or have a nap. Its really hard when she doesnt settle tho!
I know it is super early days- 4! But please tell me its either not just my baby or it will change at some point.... All little Cj will do is feed, sleep then feed as soon as she wakes.. seconds minutes or hours later.. or feed cry feed.. If i am lucky its the former, she just fed 1hr then slept one then fed 30mins more and fell straight back off... More often she feeds anything upto2 hrs swapping between boobs , and the instant she stops she cries. No such thing as activity( our Mat or chair etc) unless crying counts.. and only thing that stops crying is more boob. Literally awake all night last night either with cj either wailing or on breast.....

Smlsave I was planning on going down the baby led weaning route but bubs caught us out by showing signs of needing more food(waking in the nite)around 5 months so health visitor suggested we start giving him baby rice etc. So I started making purees etc but mostly just gets what we are having mashed with potato masher,he's always looking for a challenge today he stole a bread stick off my plate and it was gone in seconds.his new tooth has made him even more adventurous lol
