Ah Kira your milk is only coming in on day 3/4. She will be making the most of it and be glued to you for a little while :-) Just accept you will be sitting down a lot for the next few weeks so get a comfy area where you have the remote handy and watch loads of films.
If you get a sling you can feed her while pottering about. I have a peanut shell pouch sling and an adjustable baba sling. I use the pouch sling as it is so quick to put on. It takes all the weight off my back. I have used it when Daniel is being cranky but not due a feed. As its too cold I have only used it a few times outside. Used it a few times in the early weeks to breast feed discreetly. TK Maxx were selling them for £15 which is a bargain.
Metranil it's very inspiring that no matter how hard things are, they will and do get easier. The early days, weeks and months with a baby can be so difficult sometimes and it's great to hear that I'm not alone in having struggles and doubts at times, IYKWIM. I miss my little newborn sometimes but I'm thankful that as he is 4 months now he is more independent. Starting to lose that broody feeling, thank goodness!
Womble let us know how LO gets on at the doctors tomorrow. Hope you get a bit more sleep tonight!First Baby born January 2007
Second Baby born September 2011 :j0 -
I know it is super early days- 4! But please tell me its either not just my baby or it will change at some point.... All little Cj will do is feed, sleep then feed as soon as she wakes.. seconds minutes or hours later.. or feed cry feed.. If i am lucky its the former, she just fed 1hr then slept one then fed 30mins more and fell straight back off... More often she feeds anything upto2 hrs swapping between boobs , and the instant she stops she cries. No such thing as activity( our Mat or chair etc) unless crying counts.. and only thing that stops crying is more boob. Literally awake all night last night either with cj either wailing or on breast.....
Kira it does get easier I promise. I think I cried more than Isabella in the first two weeks! Bf was hard when my milk came in as my boobs were so engorged she couldn't latch on. Find yourself a comfy spot and just concentrate on establishing bf if that's the way you want to go. In the early days I stayed in bed and my oh bought her to me when she wanted to feed then took her again so I could rest, I don't think I even changed her nappy in the first week! Also remember that your midwives are there to help, ours were fantastic.
In the next few weeks you will notice that she becomes more predictable and has more awake times and you will probably fall into a routine of some sort. I'm sending hugs your way, any questions just shout xxDD born 14/12/11

morning all, is it just me or does anyone else dislike the school runs.
my eldest goes off by himself about 7.20 and my middle one gets taken around 7.10 to breakfast club which starts at 7.30. the mornings samuel is having a lay in i do wish it started later lol
in all fairness they dont have to leave that early, the eldest just likes to so he can meet riends and play in the playground before school and my middle one loves breakfast club, its the only way at one point i could get him to go to school but the last 4 yrs he has gone because of my work hrs and dont think i should disrupt his routine just for the sake of a few months until i go back to work.
so samuel went down at 10.30 (for an hour eek) then was up for about 2 hrs then went down till 5 this morning.
got in touch with work yesterday regarding some menus and was told my course doesnt start wed it starts thurs now, so glad i rung them as i would of turned up wed, apparentley letters went out but mine never turned up lol, hany for me this week as hubbys days at college changed just for his week so means he will be at home with samuel rather than my mum having him.
hopw you all had good nights. xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Morning everyone.
WW Hope your appointment today is helpful. Really glad you managed to bring it forward.
Sorry, did read back but having a bit of a mind fart!
My LO fell asleep whilst being winded at about 18.45, then dreamfed at 22.00 then woke about 5.45 but stayed quiet till 6.15!!!0 -
Ha ha, love that Doglover - mind fart :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:katchambers wrote: »honey, I have that problem when I have a lot on my mind, and you know what helps, if you write down, or put a reminder on your phone or something, that way your mind knows that you have noted it somewhere and that it won't be forgotten, so next time you take a nap, take a pad and pen to bed with you and if you think of anything just write it down for later. I'll give that a try Kat, thanks.katchambers wrote: »My LO is 6 weeks today and it only just seems to be slowing recently, I will let you know if it starts up again though, but if you are worried I would check with your doctor or HV. There is a lady at my class today who has been bleeding for 12 weeks, she is breastfeeding, I also heard that breastfeeding prolongs the bleeding.
Mine slowed down at the weekend and I thought it was the end, but now I am flooded again12 weeks?? EEEEEEK!!
WW- good luck at your appointment. please let us know how it goes. there is bound to be someone going through the same as you but not brave enough to post yet. Hugs x
I will do Jen, this comment has made me feel much better about my moaning
Kira, if there is a breast feeding support group in your area I would get in touch with them, or ask your MW to refer you. The woman who ran my local one came out to my house 2 or 3 times a week and was always at the end of the phone, she was fantastic and a great source of support, not just about BF but about everything to do with babies. I was worried she would be really militant about it but she wasn't and really supported me when BF didn't work out for us.
I bought the baby sleeping bag that Kat posted a link to a few pages back (Friday or Saturday I think). Anyway I ordered it Saturday afternoon/evening and it turned up Monday morn at 8.30am. Katie used it for the first time last night, it has a nice snug neck so I knew she wouldn't slide down inside it, and I felt more reassured knowing she wasn't kicking her blankets off and that her arms, shoulders and chest were warm.0 -
Hope everyone has had a fairly good night :-)
Thanks for your reply lablover, glad to hear your little one is enjoying food. Jacob started waking in the night too but im glad i waited that little longer. Have only seen the hv twice in the last five months! :-) i think that most of them still push puree over blw as they generally can advise on it much. After listening to my friends say how they were told different things by different hvs etc i never bothered going to clinic! Might go just to get him weighed soon though.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Kira, i also had my local breastfeeding counsellor out to me. She came over to mine, we went over to hers and she makes the best cakes! :-) i can honestly say that i would have given up feeding without her.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I dont bother getting bubs weighed now,he is a giant ,his 6-9 month trousers and baby grows are too short,no idea where he gets it from,he was in 90th centile in length when he was born.I think coz bubs was sleeping thru from 6 weeks when he started waking around the 5 month mark it was obvious he needed something more to fill him.we only pureed for about 2 weeks then switched to adult food mashed and finger foods, anyhow off for a shower while bubs is having a nap
LLxThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Morning all! Belated New Years Resolution is to try to post more often on here now. I used to be a really good poster on the pg thread and since having L have become much more of a lurker
Anyway, I just wanted to say to anyone thats struggling when L was 4 weeks old I walked into the HV clinic having never been there before and burst into tears in front of 3 HVs I'd never even met before...That's how bad I felt. I was exhausted, down coz BF didn't work out, crying all the time and my parents were on the other side of the world until L was 3 months old. I even began wishing I hadn't had a child
But that all seems so long ago now - L is almost 5 months and its unbelievable how different I feel. He is amazing and yes he has his moments and we have some bad days (and nights) but on the whole I've got myself into a nice pattern and now he is giggling and reacting to me more, its all so rewarding.
So please believe me when I say it does get better. But I definitely would advise getting out and meeting people. My local Sure Start centre was an absolute life saver initially and I've made some fantastic friends.
Mind you, we're travelling long haul with him next week and panicking doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about the flight. :eek:Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Morning all hope you are all well. Kira, I'm going to reiterate what others have said - it does get easier. I think your first is such a shock to the system - no freedom to even go to the toilet, someone totally reliant on you etc etc. By your third you will be a dab hand at it all I promise
!!
I hate the school run some days too Mirror especially as it's so blinking cold this morning.
Oh and my washing machine went caput last week, this week it's my pram!!!! One of the suspension rods has snapped making it useless. Have a mate who has a welder so he's going to look at it but it's a real pain in the whatsit for me. Had to borrow a pushchair from a friend that reclines so I could do the school run but I NEED my pram back!!
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0
