  • Found a lovely article about sleeping routines. I've not checked out the rest of the site, but I really enjoyed reading this. I found it really encouraging and supportive, particularly around nursing/rocking/cuddling your baby to sleep when he or she is small.

There's such a temptation to try to get them into a routine and to try to get them to self-soothe and put themselves to sleep that we forget that small babies are simply neurologically unable to do this and it's not a problem to cuddle your babe to sleep when they're little - you won't be making a rod for your own back or anything like that.

    Check it out here.

In other news, Freddie's guffing like a 25 stone brickie after a night of beer and vindaloo.

Thanks for this, I really enjoyed reading it xxx

Disneyworld - It isn't cheap, but it is worth it, it's trying to find the ideal age for it I find is the difficult part, my mum and dad didn't have the cash to take me until I was around 11/12 and although I loved the rides, the magic of Disney was sort of lost on me. The same could be said of taking a 5 year old, they'd love all the characters etc but then the big attractions they'd be too little for. It's very good though, when they're younger I'd recommend Disneyland Paris. It's very very similar but smaller and not always as warm.

I've been to both and enjoyed both.

Morning all :D I got a lovely long lie this morning, (10.30  ) OH got up with baby and then went out and got me coffee and breakfast, how lovely :D

We are going out with friends for lunch today, it's a lovely day so we are going to take a walk down to a restaurant that is by the river, and luckily OH gets 50% off with work, so I think I will have a steak, before I start Slimming World tomorrow :( got a Tesco order coming first thing, with lots of healthy goodies.

Smoking, I'd just tell people straight, there isn't a nice way of saying it and I think most people would be offended anyway, so I'd just bite the bullet and say it. I had to do it with my mum, although I'd never leave him with her as I don't think she'd go outside when I'm not there, which is annoying.

    Have a brilliant day all.

  • I love the name aiden as it is my youngest nephews name and my godson:)

Re smoking they advised at the hospital for the smoker to leave n hour between smoking and visiting baby-Niall has two uncles that smoke and they both know the rules.

I think in I'll give the easy routine a miss till Niall is older. Dh is back at wrk tues and I am worried about being able to cope, I don't think the stress of trying to stick to a routine is going to help.

Visiting mil this afternoon, she is in love with Niall as he is her first grandchild.

Dh is currently asleep on the sofa next to me hehe

  • Gilly have a lovely steak :)

My OH is desperate to do America so I dont think I could persuade him to do Paris, I did Paris when I was 6 and loved it though.

My MIL smokes. OH has told her when she has him she is not to smoke at all, luckily she just has 3 a day now so we are hoping she can quit alltogether.

Just at the mils now  god she annoys me.

Oh the conversation goes on "oh just wait till she's pulling the cat's tail and jumping all over the dogs" - NO, because I'm not ALLOWING her to treat animals like that - but does she listen - no!

Oh, my MIL is complaining about the car seat we want! She wants to buy it, but we've said no as it costs so much, I'm not happy with her spending the best part of £300, and she can't understand why we won't just get a "normal" seat  I'm getting pretty peed off with it all.

America is great, but I'm not sure if I'd spend all of that money until baby was a bit older to appreciate it, but I know once men get an idea into there head, it's hard to get it out :rotfl:

My OH went to NY & Chicago, when he was around 22 months I think, and he can't remember anything of it, obviously, he has the photographs though. The long haul flight, I can't imagine doing it with a toddler  or maybe that's just my child, my friend has just done London - Sydney with her 1 year old and I don't think she was too impressed. I take my hat off to her for doing it

Mines fave is 'wont be long till he is havin choc puddings and sweets' no matter how many times we say no we dont want to give him sugar but she still goes on and on the next time we go round.

Her next fave is to tell me how my oh had his pudding first then his meal and maybe aiden would like that. Erm no, he has it the normal way that we give him!
