Kira huge congratulations!!!! Forcepts aren't great but at least they get baby out. Claudia is a lovely name!!!
Doglover our little friend ewan the dream sheep is a bleeping miracle!! Daniel slept from 8:30 to 5:30. Fed and back to sleep at 6am. He was restless then so put the rain noise on and he conked out til 8am!!!!!!!!!!!!!'!!!!:T he did rouse a good few times through the night but settled himself. No dummies, no coming into my bed, no shushing or stroking his cheek. Just wonderful. The only other difference last night was that I left his arm unswaddled as he kept wriggling out of the swaddle to get to Ewan. He also has quite a bad cold and cough. So i was even more surprised to get, oh let me count... Nearly 9 hours sleep :j
So hoping it's not a one off!First Baby born January 2007

Kat that sleeping bag looks great. Lets them move their arms without getting scratched. Shouldn't have followed the link to Kiddicare as I've now seen some lovely stuff i want to buy!
As for 6 week olds, when they start getting grouchy after 'playing', its probably time for a nap :-) they are too young for toys, they are only interested in being talked to and watching faces, etc.
Womble, not got any great suggestions for a noisy baby except for getting them winded as best you can and keeping on with the gripe water. I'm started using it again for Daniel after his injections and it seems to settle his tummy. Might drop the day doses but keep the nit one for a while.First Baby born January 2007

Does anyone have any recommendations for a monitor? I want to get Finn into his own room asap but not without a really good monitor and I haven't a clue where to start.
We use this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelcare-AC401-Movement-Sensor-Monitor/dp/B0013FW5G8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326538356&sr=8-2
We chose it as 3 different people recommended it, plus it has great reviews, it works really well and has some great features, including the sensor mat. The night light feature is so helpful as that is the light by which we feed Nate at night time to keep the environment dark and calm so he knows its night.

Kira Congratulations:j:j
Can anyone recommen any good toys for a 2week old? Midwife said they do like bright lights. How do you play with your LO when they are still quite young. Midwife said its ok for them to be on there tummy as long as i'm with her. So i'm thinking tummy tme on playmat with maybe a nursery ryhme CD playing in the background?
We had a bit better night, managed about 4hours of broken sleep.
Also, my mum has been a great help and would like to get her a thank you gift. Something she can treasure, i don't mind how much it cost. I don't know wether maybe a massage but then she is very busy with work.0 -
Laura you're her best toy while she is so young! Hold her, talk to her, sit her up on your lap etc. You will probably find she won't like tummy time for more than a few minutes if she's anything like Jacob. They need to have strength in their heads to be able to lift it off the floorThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

you can get some playmats with lights that go on above thier heads or just different toys hanging down, but as said at that age your her best toy lol.x
so rock climbing done with the boys, just paintballing to do tomorrow then i can send them back to school and relax lolnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Congratulations Kira :j
Laura - I agree that you are the best toy for DD!! Alternatively, babies are meant to be able to see black and white very clearly. We had a book with just black and white pictures for babies, and also one of the best presents we had was a small musical mobile that could be attached to the pram which had black and white pictures on one side for the tiny babies, and then when they're a little older, you flip it around and it's little fluffy animalsAw, I miss that mobile!
Took DD to Disneyland Paris this week and we had a whale of a time. Even managed to get her on a couple of baby rides and some cuddles with Mickey etc.0 -
Also to add, Laura - the Lamaze toys are very good with babies. We still play with ours here0

Sammy do you know where they got the musical mobile from?
How do you get with breastfeeding in public? Just starting to think about getting out more. At the moment we are just going for walks but starting to think what to do when out in town as there is no where to go to change and feed. And where she is on demand dont know when she will want another feed.
Thanks everyone for your advice.0
