Hope you manage to get a nap today lauralou. Your baby is still so little that she still has no idea of night and day yet. I wish i could say do this and that and shed sleep really well but every baby is different.

I found doing a dream feed at 11 just caused jacob to wake up even more often but my friend swears it helps hers sleep longer.

Jacob lived in sleepsuits for the first few months and i lived in my pjs too. :-)

    Hope this helps :-)

I have a bare bummed baby trashing my tidy drawers atm! :-)

Id change her nappy if shes def awake but keep the lights and noise very low - i have a little torch i use.
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

Jenjade my HV said if she only has a small feed return her to the breast you last feed on, then offer the next one.

OH mum come round earlier and she had a 20min feed, nappy change. OHmums had a cuddle then put her down in the moses basket but then started to cry but she would stop for a while then start, she started to stroke her hair and that seemed to settle her so maybe in the night i need to wait until she fully crys and maybe just stroke her so she knows i am near by. But then they say you should never let a newborn baby cry. So just learning at the moment!

Hi all thank god it's Friday! No school runs for 2 days yey!!! Welcome to Bella and Koalamummy and any others I missed. It's definitely a pregnancy board reunion!

    any news on Kira?
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!
  • Hey Laura!

Big congrats on the birth of your baby!

The first few weeks are such a huge learning curve, and to be honest you tend to find your own way/routine. I used to try and follow what other people were doing/what I'd read on the net, and it just used to stress me out even more!

It is tough when you just can't work out why baby is crying and you've done everything you can think of to settle them! It's doubly tough when you are exhausted yourself and haven't slept for days!

I would say that if you have done everything for LO, fed her, burped her, changed her nappy, cuddles etc, there isn't anything wrong with letting her cry a bit. Obviously not for a long time but sometimes they just settle themselves back to sleep.

Also try and get out a bit each day if you can. I used to find that a walk in the pram would knacker DS out and he'd sleep better for a bit of fresh air!

And..try and see if you can get someone..your mum/OH etc to watch LO whilst you grab a bit of sleep. I used to get so tired I wouldn't be able to function properly, and that's not good to anyone!

  • Ewan the sheep arrived today :j have tried him out and D really took to him, smiling, laughing and trying to eat his ears and feet. It sent D to sleep, unswaddled and without the dummy, but then he woke 15 mins later and couldn't be settled:( he is very very windy though and has developed a cough today too, so this kind of crying isn't his usual behaviour.) Think it will work better when he is back to his normal self.

Baby swimming went great. The 3 second immersion is not for the fainthearted! I found it very hard to hold my precious baby underwater for 3 seconds!!!! The longest 3 seconds EVER. The babies all came up with a splutter then a shout but calmed down pretty quick. Goodness knows what they thought of us! Going to start baby massage next week too.

Come on Kira, give us an update!!!:p
