Afternoon all :) hope everyone is having nice days.

Think we've dropped to one nap a day here  past 3 days he's only had one. I'm knackered looking after him, constantly on the go, no idea where he get's his energy from! Day 4 of the shred, and I don't feel as sore, so there is light at the end of the tunnel Sunshine and Sammie :)

OH is working late again, so just me and bubba this afternoon.

    Hi all

Katie, hope George finally drops off for you.

Gilly, just done day 3 and not as bad as day 1, still tiring though ! Gosh 1 nap a day, Aiden normally does 2-3 hours awake and a short nap. He does that all of the day really. His naps are only really cat naps though.

He had porridge this morn which went down well x

Hell the first night after she was born I really was utterly indifferent to the idea that was my child on the floor below me in an incubator - and it was only at about 5am, after lying there in a bubble of feeling utterly violated and abused at all that had been done to me, that I thought "I'd better start acting how they expect me to act and ask them to ring down and see how she's been through the night" - an act of pure going through the motions.

My labour wasn't anything as difficult as yours dizzi but even I pretty much ignored Freddie for the first day. I was so utterly shattered after no sleep for over 48 hours plus the emergency section that all I did was stare into space whilst this thing slept beside me in a cot. It wasn't until the midwife suggested it in the evening that he even had a nappy change. It hadn't occurred to me that he actually needed looking after.

Rebekah, don't feel bad. I don't know whether you have PND but I do know that you clearly have a baby who needs a lot from you at the moment. Lack of sleep genuinely screws your mind and it's impossible to see any respite from the, quite literal, hell you feel at the moment. Don't feel worried that you're slow to bond - it's no surprise given how demanding your little girl is. The only thing I can say is.. things get better. I think Freddie's been fairly easy so far but even I've had times when my instinct is to shut the door and pretend I don't actually have a baby. Sometimes I've felt almost intimidated or frightened by him; I don't feel like I'm in control and I certainly don't feel like a 'mother'. I'm just scared of this little baby who might start screaming and I won't be able to stop him. My heart goes out to you. But it will improve x.

    Hey Ladies,

Its quiet on here today! Really proud of my little Poppy, she has rolled all the way over for the first time today!! She has been trying so hard for weeks and never quite managed it, but today she finally made it! I know lots of your LO's have been doing this for ages, but I feel like its a real achievement and feel so proud of her! Just remembering back to the awful weeks as a 1lb 15oz helpless girl in an incubator and looking at her now rolling around her Nursery floor - she's come so far!!

Hope all ok and having a easy Sunday afternoon, weather is grim here so not been out, just sorted Poppy's clothes out and put them away in her new chest of draws.

    Take care.

Yay for poppy !!! That's fab jannine !!!

    Hello all !!

Rebekah - One of the DVD antenal videos I watched the midwife specifically talked about bonding and that out of x number of you then only so many would have an immediate bond and that for some it will take time and that doing lots of skin to skin etc to encourage the bond to grow. Honestly not bonding immediately is not uncommon so do not feel bad about it things take time. Hope you manage to get some help/advice from Gp etc re pnd as they can help you, hormones, tiredness, the hard work of looking after a baby is a big deal and do what you need to do to enable you to cope during one of the harder parts of patenting ie ask for help. Looking after baby will get easier, I have been told by a friend at 3 months things usually are a lot better but quite often things are easier before then.

Gilly - I find it tiring with Scott now as he is full of energy too !! One nap is a bit of a :0 prospect but Scott does do that too quite a bit then gets overtired !!! Can't win !!

  • Hey

Niall Daniel Fox was born on 11th August 2012 by emergency c-section weighing 9lbs - we are both doing fine - a slow start for Niall feeding which meant we were kept in hospital for a while but all is well now.

had to prise myself away from pregnancy thread lol

still lots to learn with a newborn, struggled a little last night with getting Niall off breastfed him about 4 times over 3 hours and then he went to sleep at 12.40am - for a good 3 and a half hours, fed him again for 20 mins then and he slept again till the morning. maybe it was just the weather, as he seems a little more grouchy than usual.

15% off at mothercare at the moment if you spend £100 - came in handy as have ordered a medela swing.

Hello Laura :D Glad to see you over here. That's quite a good sleep, just be thankful :D whether it's due to heat or he's just being a great boy for his mummy.

The Swing is fab :) I loved mine! xx

    Congratulations and welcome Laura!

Well I gave in and let George sleep on my chest for a bit earlier, I think it's just the heat that's upsetting him. We bathed him in cooler-than-usual water and he loved it but he's roasting again now. Hoping I can feed him and get him into his cot without any fuss - got a load of work I needed to get done this weekend but he's been so fussy and clingy I've hardly started.

Haha and gilly I think that most nights!!!!!
