Thanks Gilly, I think the jumperoo will be coming out soon!

It's only fairly recently that George has held his head up properly when we put him on his tummy, we used to roll a towel up and put that under his chest to give him a help, but now he can do maybe 5 minutes without the towel before he starts getting cross, longer if I dangle a toy in front of him. He loves just sitting up (we have to hold round his tummy) and looking at everything, I guess it must get a bit tedious when you're lying down so much!

Thanks Sammie :). Just to prove me wrong he slept for an hour and a half this morning, I managed to get the bathroom cleaned AND have a cup of tea before it went cold!

I'm a bit confused about the head-holding thing. Freddie's six weeks and if I have him on my knee supporting his chest (like when I wind him) he holds his head up and has done since about three weeks. If something makes him move to either side, his head will wobble a bit but if he's still he holds it up perfectly well.

When does this become 'real' head-holding, i.e. I can put him to play on his front and he'll lift his head rather than lie with his nose pressed against the floor?

I'd say he can hold his head up then :D normally happens around 4-6 weeks I think?

Gilly - how old was Aaron when he started sitting up and crawling? Noah is 5 months on Monday so I want to know roughly when babies start sitting up etc as I can really remember with my boys.

I don't think I'm a good example really. He's been crawing from about 18/19 weeks  and has this week started cruising the furniture and he's around 29 weeks  only this week has he started sitting up steady though without being wobbly though, so he's went in reverse :rotfl: I think 6 months is about average for sitting up though :)

Re. head holding, found this useful explanation.

I'd say Freddie's pretty much where he should be:
    One to two months
by the end of her first month, she should be able to lift her head briefly and turn it from side to side when lying on her stomach. At around six to eight weeks, if she's especially strong, she'll raise her head while lying on her back. When you carry her on your shoulder, she'll have enough control to hold her head up shakily, but not for long. She'll also be strong enough to hold up her head in a car seat, infant carrier, or babysling, but she's still too wobbly for an off the road buggy or a backpack. Wait to use these until she can hold her head up steadily without any support from you. Right now, you can probably put her in her bouncy seat and she will watch the world go by.

Hmm we are trying a nap in the cot for the first time. I'm still in the room but not looking directly at him etc. I can see he keeps relaxing like he's dropping off then jerking himself awake, looking around a bit, then dozing off and then jerking awake...he's not crying or even whimpering though, he seems fairly chilled out...so far so good! I'm hoping he will drop off and I can actually move/leave the room but I think I might be being a bit optimistic for the first time :o

I don't do much tummy time - she hates it, and her response is generally just to fall asleep (especially on those tummy time cushions at baby group) - when I do I still resort to using my chest to do it on.

O M G. I have just done day one of the shred :eek::eek:

That woman is a machine!! Not hurting yet, but my god I am sweating :o

Aiden fell asleep so I took the oppourtunity and set it up on the laptop in the lounge, shut my curtains though as my neighbours don't need to see me jumping jacking around! I don't actually have any weights though lol, I used a soup tin and a tin of chick peas lol!!

Gilly - please tell me day two is a little less sweaty??!!!

Go and do something useful!! :D Now somebody needs to tell me to go and do something useful! I have a list of jobs as long as my arm and Poppy has already been asleep for 30 minutes!

Had new carpet fitted today in Poppy's room, the hall, stairs and landing and a new bathroom floor fitted! It looks fab!

OH will be building her cot, chest of draws and wardrobe this weekend and then we will nearly be finished!

Getting so fed up of this rubbish weather, its so muggy here, yet throwing it down!

Right must crack on and do something useful!

Finally got mine off to sleep - daddy's working from home and the aura of daddy seems to induce an immediate sleep regression in her... have the chilli part of a chilli-cheesey pasta bake on in the slow cooker for tonight, will cook off the pasta when she has a quick snooze later on, dishwasher emptied, kettle boiled ready to make next bottle (I boil it, make a cuppa, put the rest in a flask and it's normally a decent temperature by the time a feed comes along or I add cooled boiled water after the hot and powder to bring the temp down)... now fiddling on starting to sort out tutoring resources for September.

Daddy only came home from work because I had some spotting of blood this morning and wanted him on hand in case it turned into something more sinister that meant I'd need a hand dealing with Erin... not TOO worried about the spotting - had it this point last time with her and she turned out mighty fine, but it's that point where things either seem to succeed or fail for me - time will tell - no point ringing the EPU since I'm in to see the consultant and be scanned in under 3 weeks anyway and this early on with my tilted uterus they'd be able to see bog all anyhow so I'd not get any answers.
