Yawn, congested baby here (for 4weeks now!) So keeps waking up every time he lays down, even when on a slope. Docs wont do anything as his chest is clear, no decongestant as hes inder 3 months. I wish the entire world knew what it felt to get this little sleep! I will remind OH when he wakes up that I'm not just "a little bit tired" and that sleep deprivation is actually used as torture in some places....well its bloody effective, there is plenty I'd do for a decent sleep right now!

you can get nose drops that are good for little babies. they are just saline but I think they just free everything up a bit. They are called nasosal something i think. you can always try a little baby vicks on yourself whilst you hug him?
  • Hey turtlemoose
Sorry you arent getting much sleep :(
Aiden had a cold few wks back and doc gave us nose drops, not sure on age though?
I put karvol in hot water in a jug in his room which helped loads but again not sure of age?
Maybe the vicks on yourself is worth a try? x

Turtle, my LO was really congested during the first week of her life (apparently common in c-section babies) and saline drops did help. They're only £1.69 from my local chemist, so if it doesn't work you haven't lost much. I know what you mean re. sleep deprivation - I had one evening early on when I was so tired I threw up. I never knew that was possible! Really hope you manage to at least get a decent nap today. By the way, could you express a bit so that your OH could do a couple of night feeds to enable you to get one longer stretch of sleep? My OH once did an entire night of feeding (we're FF, so easier I know) - I slept for 11 hours straight and it was absolute heaven.

Turtle my Jessica was a C section baby and very snuffly/congested for 8 weeks, best thing we done was to prop her mattress up, we used a rolled up towel at head end.

Saw you tried propping baby up, have you got a sleep curve mattress? They help position baby.

The steamy shower room helped a little bit, Jess is a greedy bottle monster and left me delirious xxx

Good luck, I know it's really tough xxxx

Omg i just lost my long message...twice! Grr!

Thanks for sympathy all - I feel a little more human now we've napped this morning :o

I have considered expressing for night feeds (and OH has offered)...but he doesn't wake up so id have to wake up, wake OH up and tell him to go get the bottle ready....the interruption defeats the point, if im up I might as well feed him directly. 11 hours sounds amazing though!!

seren and nutella my hv advised against saline saying introducing something to the nose can cause more mucous....but then the nurse at my GP's said that's not true...but who do i believe?!

sunshine all the decongestants are 3m plus so im just nervous using one when hes a month off that :(

    toniq thanks will try steam

I think im going to try the saline.

sammie hope you got some car boot bargains!

What is everyone else doing today? OH and SS have gone to the park so I'm sorting R out, will get some washing on and have some food (im starving!) and hopefully we will be without incident (poop puke etc) and we will manage to join them in the park!
  • Good luck turtle :) hope he clears a bit soon.

I want to go to a car boot, but my OH is a bit weird and wont have 2nd hand toys. God only knows why, I dont have an issue with it but he seems to. But then he hardly offers to fork out £60-70 for new toys! Strange man !

Just at mils. She is annoying me already. She tells me things like I dont know my own son, she just said oh hes chewing his thumb he is teething you know....no! is he really!!??!

And she has just said he likes to be on his feet, hold him up cos he likes that.

Sod off you witch....hes my baby I know him!!!!!

Oh sunshine mil woes! Maybe all of us with evil ones should swap for a day...because then we could be totally honest to them as strangers who will never see them again....and when we get our own mil back we would have the satisfaction of knowing at least someone got to give her what she deserves ;) lol
