Hey ladies,
Gillyx you're really organised for Christmas! I don't want to buy to much for Poppy as we have quite a big family and she is the first Grandchild so I have a feeling she'll be getting an awful lot and especially with her 1st Birthday a month before! (Can't believe her first Birthday is only 3 months away!!!)
Katie, Most nights I'm in my pj's at around 7.00pm! I love being comfy in pj's and a dressing gown! I had a bath tonight with Poppy and I was remembering fondly the days when I could languish in the bath for an hour reading my book, haven't done that since having her!!
Rebekah - Hang on in there, as turtlemoose says the early days are so hard and tiring. I remember the 2 hourly night feeds and the itchy red eyes, times goes so quickly though and it won't be long before you're getting a bit more sleep.
Hope everybody has a good nights sleep.
I'm off to baby clinic tomorrow morning, dreading it already.

Jannine, still can't believe we were due at the exact same time  It's so crazy
I haven't actually bought that much in all honesty. Bought quite a lot of clothes in the next sale, but it means it'l actually get used, as opposed to getting stuff I don't really like
I can't help myself though! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

I think you were due a few days before me, I was due the 10th Feb! Thinking back its very surreal! I've got a lots of clothes as well, mainly 1 year to 18 months stuff, she'll probably be 3 years old before she fits it the way she's going!
I'm a shopaholic as well and can't help myself! Before Poppy it was always clothes for me, now its clothes for her or stuff for her Nursery!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

He's getting on much better thanks Nutella, been doing it in the big bath now. We were given a bath support thing for him ages ago that I'd forgotten about, used that for the first time yesterday and it was really handy. Almost got a smile when he stamped and splashed everywhere, and no tears so that's definitely progress. Thanks for asking.
I'm glad I'm not the only one ready for bed early! George slept from 10 til 5 so I'm feeling pretty human, just need him to finish this feed and nod off for another hour or so...Newborn thread member

Janine I hope baby clinic goes ok for you today. If you don't like the HV attitude, can't you go to a different one? I was given a choice of 2, I've been to both and definitely preferred one over the other. Crazily, one of them doesn't have changing or nappy disposal facilities....durrr it's baby clinic?!
Christmas - gosh I must be really mean, Reuben will only get a couple of token bits from us, enough for a couple of nice photos and that's it really. I just don't see the point spending a fortune when they are so tiny (plus we can't afford it anyway). I'm guessing he'll get a few bits from family and that will be plenty. He'll only be just under 7 months then so the paper will probably be exciting enough for him!
I was hoping for a nice long sleep after the 7am feed but no I went downstairs to the loo, came back up and there he is smiling at me.....while I wish I could get some sleep, I am loving the smiles so think we shall lay in bed and have some smily cuddly time :j0 -
I should have known when I typed my last post that there was no way on earth I was going back to sleep this morning, so any human-like feeling I had has gone and I'm back to feeling like a zombie. Sigh.
Hope everyone else got a decent sleep? I've got a follow up doctor appointment this morning so heading out soon, fingers crossed it keeps dry til we get home, it's looking suspiciously grey now.Newborn thread member

Morning ladies,
Another one here who feels like a zombie! Although it wasn't monkeys fault. I must have lay funny on my back and woke up with lower back pain all down my leg! Then Aiden needed feeding and because I was moaning to OH that my back hurt he obviously thought it was time to play! Took us an hour to get him to drop off and even then he was lying in our bed and we had to transfer to the cot. He has been up since 6, with a nappy leak so he had a bath and is now napping. I've cleaned the bathroom and put the washing out and I am exhausted!
To top it off I am out with my friends tonight, I am not looking forward to it and don't want to go
Mozzy - sorry Charlie has a cold. Aiden has just got over one. The best thing I found was a few drops of Karvol in some hot water in his bedroom on the floor. The vapour really helped him sleep better.
Katie - hope you manage to catch up on some sleep after your appt. When Aiden has his nap this afternoon thats when I am planning on having my shower and doing my make up for tonight so looks like I can't have a quick sleep
Turtlemoose - I know what you mean re Christmas. My sister keeps saying to me we should take advantage of him being little and not asking for every toy on the TV! He will be spoilt as we both have big families so I don't think we will spend a lot on him either. Probably buy more practical things like clothes etc maybe?
Rebekah - sorry you aren't getting much kip. I second what someone else said about most people on here having older babies - so it may seem a bit daunting. I really thought it wouldn't get better as Aiden never used to sleep anywhere but on my chest, but honestly it does. One thing that did seem to help was us putting a fleecy blanket in his basket on top of the sheet, I'm not sure if the basket matress was not soft enough or something but he settled better after that. I know some people swear by putting a top in with mum/dads scent on also, or warming the basket with a water bottle before doing the transfer.
Janinne - I'm the same re shopping. I don't really look at stuff for me anymore, I go straight to the baby section!:)
Nutella - that wee story is impressive! :rotfl:
By the way, I love my pj's too! Nothing better than being in your pj's early and having a nice biscuit!
Well, we need to pop in to town in a while. Everyone is meeting at ours later which means I need to buy the wine and nibbles  I'm only on SMP! I'm sad about leaving Aiden though .... even though I know he will be fine with OH.

A trick that has started to work for me with transferring while asleep, is while he's in my arms I put a hand on his chest, high up so it's slightly touching his face too. Then after transfer to the cot, I keep the hand on his chest/face. If he stirs after I remove it, it goes back on him. This took a week of EVERY sleep time until it worked, but suddenly it started to work the other day and (touch wood!) has had about an 80% success rate since then.
I also think the warming up is a good idea, must be horrible to go from all war, and cosy to a cold bed, not surprised it wakes them when they're so tiny0 -

The stuff I've bought will be split evenly between his Christmas & Birthday (January Birthday). My family don't live here, and my in laws aren't the most generous people with presents, so he only really will get from us. He plays with all his toys now that he has, they keep him entertained for hoursbut obviously the older he gets, he'l outgrow them. All in I've spent about £60, and I got those other things with points. I don't think that's too bad. Considering I've got him a pile of clothes in 12-18 and 18-24 which he'l need.
Everyone does things differently though, I see it as an investment really, toys re-sell on great, and if not I don't want him to be the only one, so they'l do his brothers and/or sisters
I spent £80 on my jumperoo but it is by far the best thing I've ever bought, you can't put a price on getting a warm cuppa in the morning, in my opinonThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
