If my LO is being a bit fussy at naptime he sometimes goes to sleep if I put him in his cot and then put some clothes away in his room. then you just walk out every now and again. Mind you he has always been quite good at nap time.
I did try this, but my LO is the curious type - she was just lying there staring at me and watching my every move! Same with the 'soothing' mobile and the toys that are supposed to have 'baby drift off in minutes' - she gets way too excited about them! The exception is Ewan - she loves him and won't sleep if he's not there. We managed a 30 min nap in the cot today, so pleased with that, but she's now asleep on me...Trying not to push her too much too soon.
Sorry to hear you're not feeling that great, hope you manage to get some sleep and feel better soon x0 -

Amc what a great birthday for your lad! ( it's mine too
)
Just had a little google and came up with this for you, £4.40 for the tubing.

I have one, and used a medela symphony too, I like mine - but there is definitely a knack to expressing. After a month of not doing it, it took me 3 goes (different days!) before I could get any out again...but once I got flowing it was no problem after that.
Katie how often and how much do you express? I found when I expressed 9oz for Reuben last weekend so we could go to the cinema, I ended up with sore hard breasts the next day - do you get the same or do you know how to avoid that? I'd love to start building a freezer stash (when I get the freezer!) but don't want to end up creating an oversupply.
Nutella I'm loving the frozen berries for smoothies idea!!! (and the cheap ice cream but sssh!). I made one today, kiwi, banana , strawberries and apple juice - it was quite nice actually! Trouble with smoothies is its easier to drink lots, way more than how much of the ingredients you would eat. I've made myself stop and save half for tomorrow, but I could easily drink it today...not quite managed to make cereal bars yet, did a load of washing and tidied up the bedroom instead, but hopefully Reuben will settle with Daddy this evening and I can get baking. Must remember NOT to accidentally make brownies instead0 -
Turtlemoose, your smoothie sounds yummy! I know what you mean about using more fruit and berries than you would eat though - I once worked out the calories in a smoothie I'd just made and it was more than I would have guessed. But hey, at least they're good for you
I usually throw in a handful of oats as well to make them a bit more substantial. Come to think of it, now I really want one! Shame I've got a sleeping baby on my lap...

If you were closer I'd bring you a glass
you can overeat healthy food though, I saw a program not long ago where they follow people with secret cameras etc - the woman ate really healthily, she just ate too much of everything and was quite overweight.basically I just need to stop eating so much

Thanks a lot turtlemoose, I'll order the tubing now and hopefully should be able to use the breast pump after all. If I've replaced the shield, valve & membrane and tubing, that should be all the bits I need to replace to make it hygienic, right? Or is there anything else I've missed? It will be great if I can use it and it's not a wasted purchase.
Oh and yes, very cool to have an Olympic birthday! :T0 -

Haha, I guess bringing a smoothie from Wolverhampton to London wouldn't be very MSE...Very true re. overeating healthy food though - and sadly we can't blame pregnancy anymore!

Turtlemoose - at the moment I don't express very much or often; been doing it in the evenings when we've been giving him the bottle at bedtime, otherwise I end up too sore to sleep. Can't really help with your problem I'm afraid, I've never had that happen. Do you use an electric or manual pump? I've got a manualandits slow going!
Re smoothies I saw on an old river cottage an oat smoothie that's yummy, basically just a banana, handful of oats and milk whizzed up, tastes like milkshake and works really well berries too. I had one pretty much everyday while I was pregnant. I really need to start eating better, I always promise myself the biscuit tin is only for supper time but it never works that way in reality. Will go t lidl tomorrow and stock up on fruit.Newborn thread member

Katie - fill the biscuit tin with grapes, plums and nectarines instead? Or nuts and dried fruit? You could always hide a 'reward' biscuit at the bottom...0
