Morning all, hope you got some sleep in the heat
As of this coming Monday (after scoffing the rest of the chocolate in the house over the weekend...) I'm officially on a diet. I'm tired of feeling fat and not fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes! I've written a food shopping list and e-mailed the lady who runs postnatal exercise classes near me. Goal is to lose 10 kg by Christmas and then treat myself to lovely new clothes in January to benefit from the sales and look half-decent when I go back to work in February. If anyone wants to join me for mutual support and telling-off, let me know - we could maybe do a weekly weigh-in and share what we've lost (or gained if it's been a bad week) - perhaps via PM so this doesn't turn into a weight loss thread
Hope everyone's well - have a good day x0 -
Morning all, not a great night for us, up 3 times for feeds and nappies and once as he kicked his blast off and had got chilly. Oh well, he does struggle in the heat so i think he was just thirsty more than anything.
Women are definitely amazing to go through labour, and some of them more than once! I found the lack of sleep the worst I think, waters went at 4am on Thursday, into hosp thursday morning to be sent home until Friday morning. No sleep Thursday night as contractions had started, no pain relief until pethidine on Friday evening which was horrid, finally Epi around 9pm and he was born just after midnight. I got gas and air while they stitched me up but it just made me drunk and sick. Probably a good thing as I didn't know until after the amount of blood I was losing, was a bit of a shock seeing blood all up the walls the next morning! Just remember lying there watching OH holding G with a bit of a dazed and horrified expression on his face. And one of the stirrups kept breaking so the student midwife had to stand there holding my leg up for aages, she must have been worn out!
I packed quite light, was determined we weren't going to be staying in for long so just took some cereal bars which got eaten as the food was hideous, my phone and one change of clothes. I did not take make up though, I remember going to the loo and bumping into a group of pregnant ladies on the unit tour and they looked horrified when they saw me, I was actually yellow because of the blood loss, huge bags under my eyes, lurching down the corridor. Haha bet that didn't help their pre labour nerves!
Anyway, bit of an epic post! Hope everyone has a lovely dayNewborn thread member

Morning All
Busy night here too, up at 2:30 for milk and then up at 4 as he had pooed, which then means that however careful and quiet I am he always wakes up in his jolly playful mood - which is not too great at 4am!! I think it is the heat Katie, hopefully its not as close tonight.
Everyones labour stories are so different! I remember looking in the mirror too not long after  I had a bath in hospital but I really wanted a shower and they wouldn't let me stand, so when I came home and had a shower - it was the best shower of my life!!!!
Have a lovely day all, I am off to clean my mums house lol!! Her cleaner is on holiday so mum said she will pay me if I want to do it :T trying to time it so Aiden will nap for an hour or so when we are there.

I made this mistake too. My arse had doubled in size due to swelling, I still looked 8 months pregnant and I'd burst every blood vessel in my eyes trying to push Freddie out. I looked a right hag."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Re. 'advice' - I'm lucky in that I don't seem to have been given any, but don't think I'd react kindly to it! My mum sometimes tells me what she used to do when my brother and I were little, but not in order to tell me what to do - more so that we can compare notes and see how much things have changed. The other day she was telling me about her hospital stay - apparently they used to keep you in for at least a week to rest and recover after giving birth. This involved you not seeing the baby other than at feeding times (to enable you to rest - as if!) - and feeding time was every 4 hours! So the hospital staff kept all the babies in one room and then walked round the ward 'delivering' the babies to their mothers. I was a hungry baby, so they used to bring me first, as by the time the 4 hours came round I'd been screaming for so long my voice was hoarse! :eek:0

Hey Nutella,
I started my diet two days ago :-D really hoping I can stick to something this time as I have a few nice clothes in my wardrobe that I really want to fit into again.
Was going to get little one weighed this week but can't be bothered today so will go on tues when he's exactly 5 months (almost 22 weeks)...wonder how close he is to 20lb now (he was 16lb 12oz at 15 weeks). He's definitely a good arm workout!
he's just gone for a nap so I have to get cracking on the house work.
hope all is well with everyone

Rose learnt to crawl yestarday. Did a few steps, settled back, decided it was too much work, and recommenced rolling everywhere.
Until bedtime. I had 45 mins sleep roughly- she was doing laps of her cot!0
