I packed my mp3 player, it never made it out of the bag! Short but aggressive is a good description Mozzy. :D I asked for the pool, and they wanted me to wait an hour just to make sure labour was properly established. No idea how long they were gone, but when they did come back, I said 'it wants to push'... not I want, cos I didn't particularly. :D For a while I was just breathing the gas and air non stop, curled up on my side. Eventually they managed to persuade me onto my back, but it was incredibly painful.

In a way I'm glad I only had the gas, as after labour finished everything was just how I wanted it, but my god it was painful till that point.

Lol, one thing I do remember is, just before she left, she brought me a bleeding ball. :D I sat on it for approximately a quarter of a second before realising that was not going to happen! I also tried kneeling but that was too painful too.

Ooooh I get goosebumps when I think of my labour and birth! I was very lucky to have things go quite straight forward by the sound of it.

Waters broke at 4am, mild contractions started so went into hosp. Hooked up to monitor for an hour then sent home with co-codamol and told by a moody midwife to come back when I'm climbing the Walls with pain! The co-codamol made me drowsy so got in bed and the contractions were getting stronger and more painful....after a couple of hours felt I couldn't cope as it was getting really painful and I felt the need to push so went back in at 11am to be told I was 7cm! Grabbed the gas and air like a crazy woman and I found it amazing.....had Teddy 3 hours later at 2.15pm!
The aftermath I found worse than the birth! I ached from head to toe for a good week after, only had a couple of stitches but the pain when going for a wee was awful....coupled with the heavy bleeding, no sleep and problems breastfeeding, I'd give birth any day over all that haha!! Xx

Having a frustrating night here. Nobody told me when you become a parent, suddenly everyone has an opinion on what you're doing and how youre doing it..which would be fine if new mothers were calm and rational, but I am hormonal and sleep deprived, therefore the next person that tells me I'm spoiling my baby because sometimes he feeds hourly is going to meet an unpleasant end!! And thats putting it politely!!

Ahhh turtle try not to worry bout what other people say! I've had that though, teddy was feeding every 1.5-2 hours and people were like, is that normal? And, ' when mine were little we had to feed every 4 hours'......oh go away. Know how u feel. Was hanging the washing out earlier and my mosey neighbour poked her head over the fence and said oh I heard baby crying earlier. Yes, I was sorting his bottle out and he was hungry. And she said ooooh you shouldn't make them wait for a bottle it's bad for them! Oh go away!!!!
And she said it was wrong off to strip him down to his nappy in the heat.......' baby's need swaddling all the time' apparently! Xx

I took granola bars, and magazines. DH bought a Top Gear magazine- it's still unread somewhere in the house as the labour came on that fast!
I didn't take makeup, but I was waxed etc (more from comfort afterwards than vanity).
Aimless, I had the ball to sit on as well for a bit, and I remember thinking it was a joke- was less painful just to stand up!
Turtle- I was going to strangel people at one point- apparantly breastfeeding and a sling was pretty much paramount to announcing you're a hippy over here.... The comments do die down though, when baby reaches a few months and people realise it is still with you....

Morning all, it really astounds me how rude some people can be giving 'advice', I feed sleepy twin straight after the twin that screams the house for food and I've been told more than once (including MIL!) about how I shouldn't be doing that.

Mrsbryan - also been told about how babies should be kept cosy all the time after I said that I've been stripping them to their nappies to cool them down. Why not let new mothers do what they think is best and leave the, be?!?
