Headaches - I used to get terrible ones whilst on the pill during the week when you don't take them & get a period. I tried lots of different ones to no avail until a doctor suggested the mini pill, which you take every day with no breaks and hence don't get a period. Headaches completely disappeared - might be worth trying if you haven't already?...

Do you seriously not have a period on them? I didn't know that. Are there any side effects, ie weight gain etc x

Mozzy, it's crazy isn't it? We're aiming for a childminder, as the cost of nursery would be similar to what you'll be paying. Childminders seem slightly cheaper, plus we quite like the idea of LO having a bit more individual attention whilst she's still so little. That is if we can actually find a childminder - am starting to panic a bit (too many horror stories about waiting lists) and need to start the search!...

My only problem with a childminder is what happens when she's ill or goes on holiday? I didn't want to have to use all my leave incase that happens. But not sure exactly how they work.......x

    Hello lovely ladies!

I thought it would be about time to join as my little boy Teddy is nearly 4weeks old! I have been reading the thread and taking in all your tips and advice and have finally found the time to post :)

I tend to come on here on the iPod during the night feeds to keep me awake but now Teddy is settling down a little bit I should be able to post during the day too, but apologies if I go AWOL for a few days!! Its all still new to me!

No-one said how hard the lack of sleep would be......I feel like a Zombie at the moment!

Thinking of getting my hair done soon, maybe coloured and cut but have no one to have baby really and don't want to leave him! Has anyone been to hairdressers since baby?!x

Hubby has been cutting my hair to save money lol We bought this thing called CreaClip. Its great, and enables him to cut my hair straight, and can even add layers if I want :D

I've got straight fine hair, so don't do much with it, and will only start colouring it once I go grey, which shouldn't be long off

Lirin, what did they teach you in your mum and baby lesson? Although I want to take LO swimming, I honestly have no idea what to expect! Bath time in your house sounds like fun :)

It seemed a l;ittle cult like, at first, but was fun! Just teaching aby to enjoy water, by singing to her, moving her through the water in differing patterns and rhymes, tossing her in the air, submerging her under the water (didn't do that bit, will try after a couple of go's...). Swooshong her through the water, and letting her play with it.

Katie, my LO hated having a bath the first few times, but grew to love it. What we do is the exact opposite of what Lirin does, so now you have two extremes to try :) In our house it's the beginning of bed time, so it's very calm - dimmed lights, quiet talking, slow. We use a baby bath with just a bit of water and a foam support thing in it so she's lying on a nice and soft surface and I wash her with a sponge and use a soft flannel on her face and hair (I do that bit last as she's not too keen!). Afterwards I wrap her in a hooded towel and have a cuddle - the bonus being that she automatically dries with no effort required. I then cover her in baby body lotion, do a bit of massage, put on a clean sleepsuit, feed her and put her to bed. Works for us - it really calms her down and makes her sleepy.

Hope George eventually learns to love his bath - I'm sure he will :)

Katiechoc - as Lirin has already said making bath time really fun usually works. I usually say thing to Noah like "who's a big boy in the bath" etc but it's the tone of our voices that makes them laugh, smile, splash etc. I probably sound like a total plonker if the bathroom window is open and my neighbours are in the garden though!!
Oh no just realised they might think I'm talking to dp when I say who's a big boy in the bath...............

Yup, mine goes for destruct and destroy, puerly because that's how she is!

    Hello all

Gosh Lirin, 60 hours! Im worrying how Ill manage 32, well done you! Do you take baby pics? Only ask cos we just spent a fortune on pictures, definately a good money maker!

Katie - Aiden hated baths up till about 3months, sometimes it helped if one of us bathed him with us but I think he just grew out of it and quite likes it now!

    X

I take baby pics now, previously only ever really did during the Santa season.... Babies all looked the same! Now of ourse, I realise how wrong that was..... :) Have taken some and added to my website.

Childcare is horrifically expensive... Mine is similar to Mozzy. I've gone for a place right by work, who will offer 10% off if she does at least 3 full day sessions a week. So if i manage to convince work to let me go 4 days, we will be paying about £900a month- upto £1100 if i do 5 days. Eek.
If we have another, we will just be over break even with my salary and 2 lots of childcare, waiting till free childcare is risky as i'll be 40 by then...

I'd have to give up work if I have a second. But can't wait too long either, being 35!! :(

Oh bless! Just had Erin lying on the lounge floor, and our big soppy dog came over, sniffed her and wandered off... two seconds later he reappears, having fetched one of his toys from his toy box and puts in on the floor beside her with a huge grin on his face!

    Aah, that's cute!!!
